Hey guys, please bare with me; I'm new here and this is my first Tundra (2019 Platinum).

I have to see I love it, and I had a Sierra Denali before it! :) but I'm extremely annoyed with the sound system, no flavor at all!

I went through some threads here and some of the advice I have seen is to start with the head unit, which makes sense to me but I'm having difficulties selecting the right one.

HD Radio, SiRuis, DVD, are not something of importance to me, what I'm looking for is to retain steering wheel functionality (connected to the car system), Apple Car play, good resolution, also Back and front camera connectivity.

I have seen threads talking about Tesla like and other HUs, I don't know which is a best fit and which will not burn my dashboard :)

Any guidance will be helpful, or at least share your setup maybe this will help me!

What's your budget? Since you have the Platinum I'm assuming you have a JBL system. Regardless, yes the factory systems are crap and require and upgrade.

When selecting a HU just start with Crutchfield. Any double DIN unit will fit in the Tundra and then you need to decide if you want it to occupy the same space as the OEM unit (7" screen) or go with one of the bigger 10 inch "floating" screens. Pioneer and Kenwood both have a huge array of options. I have the Kenwood DMX1057XR which will meet your requirements but it's at the upper end of the cost scale. It has camera inputs galore.

Any HU will retain the steering controls since these days we tend to use the Maestro interface box to integrate with the OEM systems. Maestro support is yet another option you should select when shopping via Crutchfield. After purchase you'll flash the unit via a web tool to your exact vehicle and it's plug & play.

Next you'll want to look at speaker & amp upgrades. Everyone will say this: "Contact tech12volts and he'll set you up." It's also the complete truth, James' company is easy to work with and easy on the wallet. Of course you could go it alone and spec out your own system but his packages are a turn-key solution provided you don't mind installing things yourself.

His website isn't the greatest but it's a good starting point. Once you're interested in something I suggest you contact James and let him know what you're looking for.

Thanks a lot BrakeDust, I will start with Crutchfield then.

Have you heard any good or bad things about Tesla like HUs in Tundra's?

You have to remember that those android hu will always requires some kind of tweaking here and there. Longterm reliability is still questionable, it doesnt have a long track record like the mainstream brands. If you are ok with tweaking and messing around with android system, then it would be good choice for you. Lots of features. Internal components may not be as high quality as mainstream brands though.

I have contacted Crutchfield and seems like I have a challenge, they don't have a floating unit that support European Tuning, and iDatalink Maestro! Now I'm stuck as not much I can find online that does so!

European Tuning lets you tune in additional frequencies used on the AM and FM frequency bands in Europe and other locations.

I have imported the car to Dubai, hence the need for that feature to listen to Radio.

I have contacted a local dealer and he is trying to convince me with a tesla like screen(cheaper, plug and play, connects directly to the car) when I checked it out it looks exactly the same as one being sold by phoenix automotiv! But it's not that brand!
    So still searching.

Then why not pick the HU you want but just buy the 'Euro' variant?

Not a lot of options, for example, there is only one floating 10" HU from Kenwood which has been added recently to their catalogs!

And that's a very solid choice
