So I custom made this sub box and I posted it in another forum and the people over there loved it. If i sent the files to my local audio shop to cut them for me would anyone be interested in one? will also be making fiberglass enclosures so they can be color matched if you'd like to go that route IMG_1588.jpg
    IMG_1592.jpg
the other versions made could be fully enclosed so the sub could not be touched from the top, or a basic or custom grill can be put overtop of the sub to keep the back seat riders away from it

I think that looks pretty sweet. Especially with a square sub. How is the sound?

My very first toyota pickup, a 93" xtra cab 3' lift and 33x12.5s. I built a sub box just like this, up-facing in between the seats.

Took a girl and her friend for a ride, she put her drink on the sub with out me knowing and it went everywhere.

    But this looks dope.

surprisingly really good. the sub is just an 8" kicker solobaric but the box was built specifically for it in mind so it sounds amazing. Through some prototypes of sub boxes, I found that when its in the center like this you don't need the bass up as high... but on the other hand it might be some bias because I built it

Yes, thats the main concern for most people so the sub could be downfacing and completely hidden from the real world or a grill can be put on the sub

...kinda a big deal for an audiophile.
Great idea, and nice execution on fabrication. I prototyped a sub box that uses the entire lower center console as well as the space you used. It was to hold 3 10" JLaudio w3 subs in a triple down facing arrangement. I was ready to start building it, but ended up going with the JL stealth box and i have been happy with it.
But I really like the creativity!

Down firing and two cup holders in the top and that may be a winner  Main concern at the moment is does it interfere with a car seat or mom trying to change a diaper lol. I bet that 8 does sound nice. Always been a fan of the solobaric series.

3 in lift, 2in wheel spacers. Tinted all the way around Stock platinum wheels and tires
Have you thought of widening the box 2 to 3 in more on each side, putting a sub on each side of the box?

I did but it would need to be a shallow mounts or 6" subs because of the limited airspace

Very cool, but it would be in my way. I throw long stuff on the floor pretty frequently, have passengers, and use that spot for a cooler/snacks on road trips.

I can appreciate the design, but it wouldn’t work for me.

I need one of these too. Especially because I can keep it in a majority of the time and pull it when driving all the kids around.

Man that’s nice. I have a very similar thing with an idmax in it for my old double cab. Great work!

You know I also have a center console replacement that fit a JBL GTI 12 ported. Like it replaced the center seat in the front. Maybe that’s something to consider.

I know this is an old thread but I would definitely be interested in a downward facing version of one of these for a 10" dual voice coil sub if its possible.
