    Hello!

So I came into this forum searching all over for an issue I was having, and couldn't find a thread with direct response on how to fix this issue so I figured I'd make one!

I got a new head unit for my truck, double din touch screen, and I knew I needed a wiring harness.

I bought the one off Amazon that was said to fit my vehicle and it "didnt" match up. I put that into quotes that I'll explain.

When you disconnect the factory radio, there are two connectors. USUALLY that is where the aftermarket radio harness connects and then you wire it into your new head unit. With the one I purchased off Amazon, and Autozone, (I bought two thinking they may be different), it didn't connect to those two connectors. I dug and dug online and I couldn't find any other options, so I was at a loss.

DONT CUT YOUR FACORY WIRES. THAT IS NEVER THE SOLUTION.

What I didn't know is, you need to locate the truck Amp, and that's where the wires and connectors you need are. It is either connected to the fire wall under the factory radio, behind the temp controls, or in your passenger backseat storage container. *If it is under your back seat you will need to buy the long extension off Amazon to run the wires all the way to your head unit *

Disconnect the Amp from the truck, unplug the two connectors from the Amp and remove the Amp from your truck. You don't need it.

Those connectors you unplugged from the Amp WILL work with the harness that you bought. Simply plug the harness in, connect wires with either solder or butt connectors to your radio harness, and plug into your radio. Badda boom badda bing.

Now, there will be an unused plug that you originally unplugged from the factory radio. That doesn't need to be connected to anything. Just push it back into the dash and you're good to go. Don't stress because it isn't plugged into anything.

If you want any pictures or have any questions let me know! I'd love to help in any way I can. Thanks for the read and happy modding!
