Next Gen NASCAR

They just released the next gen versions for Ford, Chevy, and Toyota. Its supposed to closely resemble a factory car, which in their opinion will draw in more viewers, not sure. I love performance cars of any brand, so good luck with this. I really hope they have a similar reveal for the truck series....New Tundra for 22.

Both, usually if you follow the circuit. Not sure what the OMG is about?..

 

I actually like the idea of the camaro and mustang looking cars on the track. Toyota is gonna put up a family car body!

You know you're getting in deep doo-doo when you have to resort to gimmicks of sorts and not the pure rubber & race fuel smell of the racing action (Talladega now has a huge infield "entertainment center") to lure spectators. Yes. Lure. Cuz they've pretty much totally pissed off the hard core traditional race fan.

 

NASCAR these days feels like Vegas 25-30 some odd years ago to me…you know the place that experienced a boom in popularity and tried to shed its old image and embrace new fans and a “family” image - only to be left high and dry by those who blew into town and blew out just as quickly - then spent more than a decade trying to recapture the magic.

Seriously - between 1990-1998 or so - I could seriously watch a race, know at least 80% of the drivers and who they raced for and most of their stories.

Today - unwatchable at times, I know less than 10 current drivers names and have no idea whose where or why. I’m now in the heart of NASCAR country and other than the occasional bit on local news sports on Fridays - hear nothing about it.

I mean it almost feels like they learned nothing from Indy car racing who made similar mistakes before them and alienated die hard fans.

Ask 100 people to name 3 NASCAR drivers - I’d guarantee 70% of the 300 answers you get are retired. No one knows the current participants and that’s hurting - they relied too heavily on the tracks and not the personalities to build a league.
