As the title says, will the new Badlands Apex winch fit in the Warn Slimline bumper?

Dimension wise the bolt pattern is the same and the actual size of the winch appears to be a little smaller in Depth/Height/Width. The Apex winch has killer reviews and is a 3rd of the cost of the 12S anndddd comes with a forged hook/fairlead. Soooo has anyone done this combo?

For Clarity Im Talkin about this Bumper

and this winch Now.... I know there may be some peoplethat will hate on this idea... Purists that say well why not just get the Warn winch blah blah blah.... lets keep all that to a minimum.

    Thanks!

Pretty sure the Apex control pack is capable of being relocated so it should not be an issue.
Also considering it is pretty much a knock off of the Warn Zeon anyway.

May want to look at the Souther Style Off-road slimline bumper as well.
I think it is a little more pleasing to the lines of the Tundra also has a light bar mount option and does not loose access to the winch.

I have my Warn bumper inbound and will then know if the Badlands 12k winch will fit, I believe it will. I did explore other bumper options which were similar but did not care with how they go over the front bumper top vs inside of it. And their lead time is 6-10 weeks.

I did receive my bumper, but of course it arrived damaged. Seller provided me with a credit, and I can easily repair it with a heat gun, block of wood and lead hammer. Install in about 2-3 weeks, depending on if I decide the spray the black bumper surround to match my new bumper caps. I also have a Hookeroad rear step bumper incoming - curious what condition that will arrive in.

I sorted out the damage with the seller, and since repaired the damage. I am Raptor lining it along with the chrome end caps tomorrow.

To OPs original question. It should fit.
I fit a new 12K Apex in an SSO slimline bumper.
I had to relocate the control box, which i suspect you will need to also.
The Apex comes with relocation studs/hardware.
Just FYI... be mindful of your torque on the studs. I broke one of my extensions, but was able to work one of the power lines terminals to still fit.

Interesting that you had to relocate it! I've seen this bumper installed with an intact warn 12s so figured I'd be good since the 12s is a bit taller than the badlands. Thanks for your input! Would love a pic.

I’ll take a few pics for you tomorrow.
I mounted mine on top of the fuse box cover. I used some aluminum bar stock to make a mounting bracket for it, and the master power switch.
I also bought some extra 6 ft cables, wire loom and several roles of electrical tape.

That Warn bumper looks pretty tall, so you might be able to fit the winch in there without relocating the APEW control box. I went with the Hooke Road bumper and had to use the ZXR Badlands winch and STILL relocate the controls off to the side (but I am a short nose 2011). I've used the winch to pull and it's plenty strong and so far reliable.

It does bolt in, albeit a very tight fit.. The supplied bolts are a tad short if you use both the regular and lock washer, as the Warn steel is thick.
Deciding whether I want to relocate the control box or trim the plastic bumper cover a little and make this fit.

Also, in case anyone is wondering. Total weight of winch and Warn bumper is 134lbs. Crash bar removed is 27 lbs, so a net addition of 107lbs on the front of the truck. Not exactly the best thing for carving corners…. :)

    Hint: Install fairlead before winch.

This is awesome and exactly what I needed, so ya need to trim a bit off the top of the control box cover for it to clear?

Had to trim a bit of the bumper trim steel bar, but it is in.
Now adjusting the bumper caps and finish the wiring. I placed the switch on the fuse cover.

Test fitted the light bar and no dice. The mounting holes on the bumper only allow for a skinnier light bar. The larger diameter light bar hits the plastic OEM trim piece behind it.

Looks great. I like this bumper a lot. I'm still between something like a full C4 bumper or going with something along these lines.

Stoked on this post... I just picked up one of the Warn bumpers for cheap. I'm going to remove the bull bar and mount a winch. Happy to hear the Badlands fits in there.

Pretty damn easy to mount the APEX in just about any bumper once you pull the control box off.

Thanks! Yeah I'm digging it. I had a big plate steel bumper on my Tacoma with a big hoop and light bar, and I'm enjoying the more subtle look of this, especially after I chopped the bull bar off...
