His doesn't have the TSS sensor so he could just paint it. They just have a emblem cut out in their grille. Not like yours.
Some have just put some dark tinted vinyl over their TSS sensor and I haven't heard of issues from this.

Thanks guys. I’ll search around for those that have tinted it. Add yet another mod to the list!

I used Luxe LightWrap (medium smoke glossy) on the front emblem. TSS is unaffected.
Tinted the 3rd brake/cargo light as well, but updated to much brighter LED bulbs first; Luxe med smoke reduces light output about 20%. Vvivid Air-Tint is also a very good product that is designed to let most of the light shine through.

I vinyl wrapped my chrome front end caps with the intent of putting my stock bumper back on. The newness of my NFAB M-RDS bumper has worn off and I have gotten it out of my system. It is nice but it is what it is. I will be placing it for sale in Marketplace along with the DD Pods soon so be on the lookout.

I've needed the info on whether wrapping the emblem affects TSS - thanks for that. Truck looks great.

    Chrome Delete:
It's a long story, but here's the next (and biggest) leg of my journey to get rid of chrome.

Gratitude: @NitroZ18fishing and tons of other folks making videos helping folks work on their trucks - Thank You! If you're a new forum member or just haven't taken time to subscribe to their YouTube channels, they've provided invaluable information. @Everyone in this forum answering my idiotic questions and posting their experiences - Thank You!

Encouragement: I'm not the most mechanically inclined person you've met. By a long shot. If you have any interest in digging into a project like this in your truck, quit sitting at your computer or looking at your phone. You're burning daylight.

    Advice:
    • Get some extra trim clips before you start. You're going to break and/or lose some, so have them on hand. Yellow, white, pushpin, roach, all of them (not that last one). I don't know if Toyota or an aftermarket vendor sells them in packs, but I do know some are missing from their proper seats in my dash.
    • Get a telescoping magnet, lots of soft rags, a generous space to work in, and a pack of Band-Aids. Update your eyeglass prescription.
    • If you're using NitroZ's video to help you pull your dash apart (that vid is great), if you have a 2020 (likely any model, but definitely 1794), the piece he starts to remove at 10:25 around the lower air bag actually has two screws to remove before it comes out.
    • I gave myself 6 hours, and it wasn't enough by about an hour. YMMV, especially if you're more confident and/or less mature than me.
    • I used SEM Trim Black 39143 on everything. Have two cans before you start. I went really - really slow. My first two coats didn't even fully cover the pieces. I didn't have any runs, but I did have some dust in the garage, and had to sand a coat off of the center console piece (600 grit, if you have to do the same thing...). Tough to find a dust-free space to paint larger pieces...
    • I used 600 grit sandpaper to scuff up all the chrome parts I painted. They took the paint well, but tossing tools around in the cab I chipped the paint I'd done a few weeks earlier on the cupholder trim. It's the easiest part to fix paint on, but the fact that it chipped doesn't bode well for the other high-traffic chrome parts.
    • The climate control knobs take the paint I used really well. A few folks were wondering in an earlier post...
    • Black shows dust waaaayyy more. Pics show it more than the eye sees it, but either way it'll make your OCD itch.
I used videos and advice already available and relatively easy to find, so I'll fetch those for you if you ask, but they're not linked here just now. Here's how it turned out:

    The scariest part:
    20210505_132828.jpg

    The current view:

    20210505_194712.jpg
I'll have to give greater thought to the gray radio and climate control surfaces, but that glove box keyhole is poking me in the eye right now.

Climate control knobs and accents (already dusty...):

    20210506_082703.jpg

    4WD knob:
    20210506_082732.jpg

    Start button accent:

    20210505_194934.jpg

    Console and vent rings:

    20210505_194918.jpg

A bonus for a Texas boy, found hidden under the center console on a support brace:

    20210505_165624.jpg

I hope yours turns out better than mine. Pretty happy... That's the way it should have looked from the factory.

    Thanks for reading.

Y’all third genners are so spoiled . I have everything for the second gen Stew makes, but still felt shorted. I’m hoping since I’m focusing on the Tundra build now I can catch up as he releases things. I’m pretty much gonna order without question.

Yeah, I agree with getting spoiled. I ordered without question every time.

Luckily he drops most (not all) stuff now in bulk, not like the 2017-2018 years where batches were in the 20's-30s of something. But it was a one man show back then, I think there are three people now, Stew, Drew and Austin.

Sorry. I was wondering if you had considered putting a bed rack over the Retrax instead of the Yakima load bars. I was curious whether it would work. Something like this:

Airbags and compressor are on. Sadly the shop didn't put on my preferred muffler due to lack of S pipe or whatever. I thought they would just make what they needed but no. :(

Was supposed to get tires and rims today but the shop never got my online order and has no idea when the Method 701's will be in stock.

That looks really cool, but I would need one that mounts to the tonneau’s track so I could still open and close it. From the photos in the link, it looks like it would block the Retrax’s path.

    Here is what I did...

I made a template to expedite applying tire shine. Just hold this bad boy up on the rim, spray the tire black, a quick wipe on the very outer edge of the rim (as it is not a perfect fit) and bingo! No more wiping down tons of overspray off the rim or having to use a liquid tire shine with a rag which takes way too long and is way to cumbersome with those tread lugs that wrap onto the tire. Able to do all four tires in under 5 minutes. Not sure why I did not think of this say 3 decades ago.

No I tied them into the cargo lights. I just followed the Toyota factory bed light install.

Ah. Never needed to turn it off so didn't realize the factory button requires you to do all that. If I can ask though, what is the reason for wanting to disable it?

This is from my DIY write-up:

"Most on here are already aware of Tow/Haul-ass Mode or Beast Mode or Nanny Override or whatever your preferred nomenclature might be. For those that aren't, the process to activate it is this: Push and hold the VSC button for 3 seconds, release, press and hold again for 3 seconds, release (nannies are now off, including traction control), then press Tow/Haul do get the nifty shift points. Tada! You now gained 50+ HP.

But in all seriousness, the real benefit is when off-road, having traction control off is necessary, both from a performance and a safety standpoint. The two-3-second press and hold isn't a big deal, but sometimes you turn your truck off and forget to do the process before you take off. There are modules on the market that are already designed to handle this, but 1) they're designed to be always on, meaning you have to toggle the VSC switch to set it to normal, and 2) they're kind of expensive for what they do."
