I am installing my fogs tomorrow, and I seen people say you can aim them. I am assuming there is some up and down movement? Can they be aimed while installed or does it have to be prior to I installing? And where should I attach the zip ties to lessen the shaking when driving?

I still need to re-aim mine, but they have up/down adjustment by how you aim them when tightening the screws on the side of the bracket. Likely, you have to install, check how they aim, then remove the bracket to loosen and re-tighten the screws. There isn't a lot of room to get your hands in to do it while they are attached to the truck. On mine, I initially installed them about "level" with the bracket, and they are aimed too high on the road. I'd start by aiming them half way between level and all the way "down" and check from there.

On the zip ties, once you get your bumper apart, it becomes pretty evident where to put them. I had to attach 2 zip ties together to get them to be longer, then tightened them to the black steel bumper brackets.

Just upgraded from SS3 Pros to the SS3 Max selective yellow fog lights. I tried to get similar shots to compare the Pro’s to the Max’s. That’s what the first 4 collage pictures are. As you can see the Max’s cutoff is far more defined and there is definitely more light on the ground. I’m debating on selling my Pros at this point. I’m pondering the idea of getting a clear SAE driving lens and fabbing a mount to put them behind the grill.

Not at all. Quite opposite actually, in my case. I have an astigmatism, so the white LEDs put a strain on my eyes with long periods of night driving. The yellow light is actually much more tolerable. And in any case, the output on even the Pros was ridiculously better than factory haha.

Just got done installing ss3 MAX amber fogs purchased from memario1214 at Hotshot Offroad. Excellent buying experience, quick email answer, and fast processing and shipping.

Large improvement from stock and I don't feel they are too much or too yellow. I aimed them down in the bezel as much as possible before installing and they lined up right up with the line I marked from the old ones. No blue clip.

I'm happy and very impressed with this upgrade.

I’m submitting a request for an update regarding Pro vs Max...perhaps especially for those who made the switch to Max:

How comfortable is everyone using the Max (or Pro) for on road driving? Any issues getting flashed regularly? I know to angle them when installing.

I am planning on SS3 Amber Fog either Pro or Max but a lot of my roads here in NH are dark two direction/ no divide so I want to choose and use responsibly. I like the cutoff of the Max.

Never turned my Pro fogs off. Never flashed once in over a year of having them. No issues with the Max either. They are designed for on road use, hence the DOT and SAE compliance.

I have been running the Pros for 1-1/2 years now and have never been flashed.
The pros have a little more up lighting than the Max lights, so should be no issue running the Max's. Both are street legal

Same with the pros...I feel like my aim might be a bit off as I see road signs lit up...in the day time...with yellow light

Thanks to guys chiming in- looking at the feedback so far I'm leaning toward the Max for the sharper cutoff.

Ive had both the Max and Pro, honestly if you have no issue with the extra cash get the Maxs. I cant really tell much of a difference between them though and if my budget were tighter I'd recommend the Pros. The cutoff is sharper but I struggle to tell the difference in fill and coverage.

anyone bought the lens replacements for the SS3's? I have the SAE amber fogs on now, but was wondering if the other lenses can be run without issues in the Tundra housing. I'm interested in trying the amber SAE driving or combo ones.

Yes. You can swap the lens. There is no sae yellow driving light. SAE driving lights can only be white. The combo lens is not road legal either. So keep that in mind that neither of those lens would allow to use it for other than auxiliary lighting off road.

I finally got around to aiming and getting comparison shots between the DD SS3 Pro and SS3 Max. I tried to make the ambient lighting as similar as possible and pictures taken from the same spot. Please forgive my rudimentary labeling lol. For a quick intensity reference, check out the fence on the left side. Both pictures are fog lights only.

anyone have issues with the torx bolts on the back of the lights, specifically the 4 holding the lens in place? bought replacement lenses over the Memorial Day sale and discovered that one of the torx bolts was already rounded off. and I can’t get it off. fml.

    Any ideas?

I haven’t had stock fogs in so long it’s hard to say. However, the stock led fogs don’t have a fraction of the output of the DD fogs, so the ability to project light ahead of the vehicle is far less with the stock fogs.

I would definitely contact DD on that. You could always try and use a rubber band to try and get some bite with the bit.

Like one of the Torx bolts was rounded... Out of the box? Definitely a warranty contact item to go through DD over. I'm not sure if you bought through me during the sale or not, but they will help you out. If not, let me know and I can as well.

Got my amber SS3 Pros installed this morning. About 15min total. Way quicker popping them out thru the front of the bumper than going thru the wheel liner. Excited to test them out tonight. They are replacing some Morimoto XBs.

yup, tried this as soon as I saw it rounded, and no luck. a T10 torx bit doesn't even bite enough in the bolt

for clarity, I bought these new maybe 6-8 months ago, and they went straight on my truck out of the box. last night was the first time I've removed them, since I bought the replacement (combo) lenses with the Memorial Day sale. not sure if they'll cover it or help me out.

the T10 torx worked fine all the other 3 bolts, but the 4th one was rounded to the point where the T10 torx barely even bit and was almost able to free-spin in the head :bananadead::bananadead::bananadead:
