Should be able to look underneath really quick to see if the fill tube is twisted or not fully seated into the inlet. If that's ruled out, you might want to look into roll over valve issue that has occurred on a few with the 38 gal tank. When that valve closes, it prevents any gas from going into the tank.

Sounds like something came loose which should be an easy fix.

Help needed. After a few weeks my traction control light and engine light came on. I got the code scanned(located in pic below) when I went to fill up and the truck was reading half tank (half tank and 136 miles ) I was able to fill up 31.8 gallons. Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you

possibly damage to the sending unit on the pump its a replaceable unit just have to drop the tank and pull the pump to replace the little float sending unit.

After cutting the shit out of the cross bar, the parking brake cable and fuel lines are still in the way. I don’t see anyone mentioning that really.

    thoughts?

    • the smaller fuel tank is a miss though ; and I’d want to upgrade it to the larger ~ this is possible based on your experience?!

If anyone can verify.. and thanks for the post !!!

Priced this MOD out and it's about $50 less expensive than going with the TF 46 gallon tank.

Finally did this swap. Anyone have any leads on the white clip that holds the evap hose to the carbon canister? My used tank didn't have it on there and the red clip off the 26 gallon doesn't fit. Unfortunately the parts list shows that only comes with the whole tank. Here are some images I found online of what it should be.20181027_134756.jpg

I think I saw the image of your tank on this thread. The clip would have been reused and is now on your truck. I did think it was weird your used tank came with the carbon canister attached.

I bought a new sender. When I sent to swap it over to the new pump I realized they sent me the wrong sender, even though the sender box had the right part # on it. I put my old sender back on. My tank is reading empty even though I just filled it. So I will be dropping it again when the new sender arrives. :annoyed:

So I just did mine today. But I do have a question. How important is the cross member and the strap for the front? That thing is pretty solid without it and completely full.

Well, I've been following this thread for close to a year and want to swap out my 26 gallon tank.
Prices have fallen just a bit with local discounts to about $1300 for OEM.
I have a 2021 Tundra Crew Max with the 26 gallon tank and yes in 2021 only the Front Bench seats do not come with the 38 gallon.
I've got all my parts listed and ready to order, but there's one detail puzzling me.
    The fuel tank skid plate.

I am not sure which one I need and that's because the part descriptions mention 26 gallon along with the TRD grade as well.
Are there 3 skid plates for the Tundra?
The 26 gallon base version, the 38 gallon base version and the 38 gallon TRD version?

Below are the part numbers in this thread.
    77606-0C040 Protector Sub-Assy, Fuel Tank, NO.1 $178.97
    77606-0C060 38-Gal, Off Road $178.97 (needs 3 studded straps)

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you asking what skid to get?

I don't believe the non TRD trucks come with any type of skid. I know on my 2017 TRD Offroad it has just a piece of plastic. So I would assume they have a 26 gal and 38 gal version of this plastic skid. Back when I had my 2013 and was all set to do this swap, I wasn't going to install a factory skid as it would allow me to reuse some of the existing straps (If I recall). The skid ones need the studs like your bold comment says.
Maybe the TRD Pros come with a metal version?

I’m not to sure of the trd pro but some argue the skid can do more damage off road by causing a puncture but I think the normal part is just a piece of plastic. You could also get rci skid for it tho if you need something

I was just going off the list of parts needed and as you can see the price for the non TRD is just about the same as the TRD which puzzled me.

This is what pappasmurf said a long time ago.
"PART NUMBER: 77606-0C040 Protector Sub-Assy, Fuel Tank, NO.1 (Skid for tank, you can opt out and buy aftermarket skid)"

If you're correct and it is just a piece of plastic, I can't imagine it would cost that much because if it did, I'd go with the TRD.
My truck is on a road trip with my wife so I have no way of confirming what it has right now.
I've only had the truck for 5 months and before that I had a 2021 DC for 5 months also.
Never had a 2nd or 2.5 gen truck before this.

Below references both of those part numbers that have been mentioned in this thread.
