I’m starting to wonder if this is a thread about dogs or a thread about barbecuing, so I’m wondering what the connection is...don’t tell me you guys are cooking up some nice tasty “doggies” now...ha ha

It was pits that even got me to trust dogs to begin with. I understand there are a lot of them out there that aren’t well behaved. Old friend of mine had a pit, big boy, around 78 lbs I think. Very good dog though. He’ll gently scoop treats out of your palm but has the power to rip your arm off by the leash. On the other hand another friend had this stupid ass chihuahua poodle that I’ve known since it was several weeks old. Still tried to bite me till the day it died of old age. Give it steak? Bites you. There was a time it was crying because it wanted to get up onto the bench me and my friend were sitting on. I went down to pick him up. Bit my hand. And another time I got drunk at his place so I went to sleep on the couch. You guessed it. Fucker tried to bite me.

I hate Chihuahuas. I remember a meme that said a Chihuahua is composed of equal parts hate and trembling. Sounds about right.

Pits actually have a lower aggressiveness temperament rating than Chihuahuas, Border Collies, and even Beagles. But they lack patience. They can attack at a moment's notice with zero warning. Dog bites happen in the US about 1000x per day. It is almost never actually confirmed by the authorities what the breed of the dog is that bit someone. For confirmed attacks on humans in the US though over the last 13 years, the Pit is far and away the highest breed with 3,394. Rottweilers come in 2nd at 535, and German Shepherds 3rd with 113.

Pits have 534% more confirmed attacks than the 2nd highest breed. And yes, I know there are a lot of Pits out there that will live a long life having never viciously attacked anyone. But that switch can flip with ZERO warning whatsoever. That's why the story from the owner is always the same: "My dog has never done this before, always acted like a big baby and loved everyone!"

Just figured I’d get a little more respect seeing as how I fed the Rat better than his owner ever did :notsure:

I've had more bad encounters with non-pit bull breeds than pit bull breeds.
