Good evening folks. So this weekend my Tundra started acting up while trying to listen to spotify on my phone. The speakers have all been replaced and I have the upgraded Tundra specific sub box that JL makes along with an amp for all the door speakers and the sub. Have not had any problems with it until this weekend.

Although having said that......sometimes if I am on my phone with the bluetooth engaged.....I will lose sound through the trucks speakers but the phone will still be on as if using the bluetooth. Usually I wind up having to hang up if that happens.

The amp is in the back under the seat. Sometimes when I turn the truck on you will hear two distinct tones as if the speakers are coming on. I have been told that since this is wireless it has a very small delay when turning on the system where you will hear music from the speakers and then after a second or two the whole thing gets louder once the amp picks up signal.

This weekend.......I completely lost sound. Switching from bluetooth source to the Sirius or the radio did not change things. After turning the truck off it seemed to reboot things and it would work fine for a bit. Seems to be more trouble when using the bluetooth phone spotify source vs the FM or Sat radio.

I put in a call to my stereo installer and have an appt next week.

But figured I'd post here to see if others have had similar issues with their stock set up head unit in the dash.

If I opt to swap that out..... do y'all recommend the Kenwood or other units? I don't care about having GPS/navy inbthe truck as my phone (android) has all of that.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated!

    Thank you in advance!

I know one of the versions of the DSR-1 software was having issues. If you have one in your system I would see if flashing the unit improves things.

A little while ago I did see something about an update for my radio flashed across the screen upon start up. Have no idea how to get this back on the screen to "update now." As opposed to "later" which is what I had chosen when I saw it.

Anyone have any intel on doing this update or flash on the stock system? Do we really have to get a thumb drive and download something from a cpu onto it to then plug into the truck and upload from that thimb drive?

Thanks for any input or suggestions.

Sounds like a pain in the ass but if it fixes the issue without having to buy a new receiver I am all ears!

I have the same issue with my '14 CM OEM head unit with nav. With Bluetooth turned on and the phone engaged, after a while all sound dies, but the call is still on my phone and I have to switch the phone to play the audio on the phone only.

Then lately, my entire head unit will cut out audio, when on Bluetooth, and the head unit will restart (turn on/off) - sometimes multiple times.

No idea. So I just don't use bluetooth no in the truck, which bugs me. So I am looking at an aftermarket head unit w/NAV built in.
