Finally installed Coachbuilder bumper shim, Method 317 wheels +18 with 295/70R18 Ridge Grapplers. Truck is stock height until Wednesday. Only very light graze is on mudflap in full turn while in reverse.

In the closeup of inner wheel I noticed a shorter lugnut. Will be calling them Monday morning.

    Here is some pictures:

Is everyone using factory lug nuts or aftermarket with your aftermarket wheel?
My friend wanting to get some Fuel Lethal 20x9 +20 running 275-65/20 for his 2016 CM stock height, no plan for lift whatsoever. He daily his and no off-roading. He wants to know if he need aftermarket lug nuts.

    TIA

I have never seen an aftermarket wheel that accepts Toyota shank style lugs. Most aftermarkets have conical lug seats.

every wheel is different. Need to check with Fuel to see if the stock lugs would work. I would personally just spend the extra $45 and get new lugs that will definitely work and probably be prettier looking.

For those running 17-in wheels where do you mount balance weights on the wheel? It seems like there's not enough space to mount them in the standard locations due to the caliper being so close to the wheel.
This is on a 2020 Tundra trd pro. Tia

If that’s the case then the shop would use stick weights on the inside of the rim and not the lip

I couldn't figure out why nobody gave any love to 305/70 17. A little wider than the 285/75 and a bit taller than the 295/70. Lighter than the 315/70 and less of a lift to fit.
So here we are. I had to find out.

Ended up with about 2.25" up front, all mudflaps gone. No BMC, Stock UCAs, no diff drop, fender liner pulled forward, no bumper shim, no skid plate bend or trim. 1in shackle in the rear. Still about 1in rake, no sensor modifications and no issues so far.
    Tires: 33.8 Cooper Discoverer at3 xlt in 305/70 17.
Wheels: 17"ICON Rebound in platinum. +25 offset.
At full turn that wheel well is full but there is no rub.
Tldr: 305/70 17 is another great option for tire size for our trucks.

@Pillslinger do you have either lift on the front or is that stock? I just ordered some 17 inch Icons. no tires yet as I am trying to decide what to do for suspension mods other than a coil spacer lift.

I used bilstein 5100 on the middle setting and added 2 coachbuilders shims on each side. By the book that should have been 2.57in total lift but in my case it came out to about 2.25in. I used a 1in shackle lift for the rear to maintain some rake.

I'm just about ready for some summer camper tugging. Thanks to all on this forum that have posted your trucks with details and pictures. I just turned 3,600 miles and have done the following:

Bilstein 5100's all the way around, fronts on the middle clip with one shim on each side. I also added a 1" block in the rear.
275-70-18 Cooper XLT's on 18x9 XD Heist wheels, +30mm offset. No rubs as of yet but I had already pulled the front air dam flaps off.
I also added Toyota towing mirrors and exhaust tip. Put some Fire FLy led's on the interior and exterior and Tyger running boards.

Last up is to do is get my airbags and Daystar bag cradles installed.

Overall I'm pleased with the way that it turned out. I would say that going to E rated tires stiffened up the ride more than the Bilstein's did on the middle setting.

What pressure are you running in your tires? I'm also only a few days in but DT set my coopers to 40psi and I feel like it improved my ride over what the middle setting 5100 felt like in stock Michelins. The ride of 5100 seems to be one of the most subjective topics discussed on this forum. I think I would have to agree with another member who said "it rides more like a truck now and less like a luxury car"

I’m running 40 psi as well. I’m ticked that I let DT talk me into using balancing beads, I’m heading back to have them spun balanced tomorrow. I know that E rated tires and Bilstein’s are a major discussion based on scouring the forum, I was just passing on my opinion on the tires vs. the shocks. I’m coming out of a 2019 F-250 so I’m not in search of a Cadillac ride. The tires definitely give a more planted feel over the stockers.

Well. I got a pleasant surprise today. After plenty of forum research I went to Discount Tire to try on Ko2s in 275/65r20 on my ‘21 TRD Sport OEM rims and suspension. Of course, their computer said no. Even the 275/60r20s were a no.

Several staff huddled around and looked at my truck. They all agreed that the 60s would fit and the 65s would rub. I told them to try on the 65s anyway because I was prepared to remove the front mud flaps and bend the plastic skid plates forward a little per “the forum”, hehe.

20 minutes later several guys approached me grinning and said the 65s fit no problem. Weighted truck, full turns, no touch. Sold.

Thanks to those that have gone before me. Good info sharing. Appreciate it.

Hey, I’m looking to put some 2018 4Runner wheels on my 2002 tundra.

I’m getting a great deal on the wheels, from what I’ve read they should be easy to install and fit. Just wondering if I need to get different lug nuts or would my oem ones will fit. Thanks for any help you have have to offer

Looks excellent. How much lift, backspacing, and any rubbing/trimming?

also what steps are those? looking for some flat metal ones to replace the factory plastic ones. TIA

I currently have 295/60R20 ridge grapplers on my stock 1794/platinum wheels with no lift. I'm looking to go with the 6112's and 5160s + 1" rear block to lift the truck a couple of inches, and I'm going to be buying new wheels as well. My tires have a ton of life left on them so I didn't plan on swapping them out until later down the line.

Any suggestions on backspacing for a 20" wheel with 295/60 ridge grapplers on them with little to no rubbing (minimal trimming)? TIA
