    Hi all-
Looking for all the available options for a muffler replacement. I had always run magnaflow or flowmasters in my last trucks but wanted to do something like that with my 20 Limited.

I am really looking for a bolt in muffler replacement vs a cat back and don’t want to break the bank either.

    Thanks-

BAMuffler!! Bolt on kinda spendy $8-900. But well worth it! Countless threads here about it to read through. It’s by far the most common/ best replacement exhaust for a reason.

Same year truck as yours. I run rough country’s dual exhaust. I do like it a lot. Not too loud not too quiet.

Hit up Keith @dirtydeeds. He will make you whatever you want and tailor it to you and your truck. He also guarantees the sound. Don't like it? Pay shipping back to him and he will make you another one to make sure you are satisfied. I had his standard 8" on my last truck and loved it. I just called him earlier to talk about a custom muffler and midpipe combo to go with my JBA long tubes I will be installing on my current truck.

Have you considered a Dirty Deeds Industries catback exhaust systems?

Aggressive V-8 sound with no drone, super simple to install, the sound is beyond anything else on the market (100% customizable for Pre-Runner loud to family camping quiet), and the quality is super impressive (304 stainless steel), oh and usually for much much less than the others out there. Check us out, we are the most recommended exhaust manufacturer on any social platform / forum. Also if the system itself doesn't impress you, we are the only manufacturer to offer a 100% sound guarantee, warranty, exchange. So if you order a system, drive it for 8 years, then have a baby and the wife says, it's too loud, ship it back and we will ship you a new one!!! Maybe go out in the desert a little to hard and dent the exhaust, ship it back and a new one is on its way to you.

Our systems are 100% customizable (sound and look) and Keith Carty personally works with each customer to design the exact exhaust system they want. Which is incredibly helpful because our systems can easily be fitted and still used you are ready to upgrade to LTH.

Let us know if you have any questions!

    Thanks, Shawna, Dirty Deeds Industries.

I’m ready to place an order and cant figure out whether or not to go the 6” or 8”. I don’t want to be heard a mile away or be the annoying neighbor, but I don’t want it to only be noticeable when I’m accelerating hard. I want a nice sound at idle and throughout the rpm range but to mellow out on the Highway and not flood the cab with noise. Also not sure to go with aluminized or stainless.

I went with the 8" with stainless because you can only get stainless for the group buy but I love the exhaust. It comes with Helmholtz resonator which help kill the drone noise and help mellow it out a bit if you think it's to loud. I have mine with the Helmholtz resonator installed and I don't think it's loud enough to annoying the neighbor but loud enough to give the v8 engine justice. Give keith a call and he can help you make up your mind. "BTW don't want youtube videos on the sound because it doesn't do it justice, it sound 100% better inperson"

As to your description I'd go with an 8'.
First try without the resonator, and if it's a little loud or has drone, install the resonator.

I first had an 8" with the rez and ran it for 4 years.
It was a touch loud for this old man and had a little rasp when I jumped on it.
I loved it, but felt is was a little loud coming home from work at 3am.
No one ever complained, it was probably just me overthinking it.

Keith swapped it for a 10", I paid shipping of course, I've been happy ever since.
Almost sounds like you might what a 10", but if you're on the fence between a 6 or 8, go with the 8.
Unless you live near the ocean or around salted roads, go with the aluminized.
Not a spot of rust on my 8" when I shipped it back to Cali..

Both my 8 and 10 have gotten compliments from people.
One was a loader has Lowes, the other was a loader at a rental place when I got some tables for a garage sale.

If you haven't, give Keith @dirtydeeds a call, he is more than helpful.

    @dirtydeeds hands down..
Direct bolt on, drill a 2" hole if you use the resonator.

Dirty Deeds Industries - Performance Without Drone

Had a catback Magnaflow in my 2005 Dc and it didn't sound any different than stock.
Had a 2 in 1 out Magnaflow on my 2014 and it gave me the drone from the inner depths of HELL..

Then found Keith at Dirty Deeds and I've been happy ever since..

Has anyone used the resonator but cut the tail pipe to “dump” at the axle facing the ground? I saw a video of someone that did it and I like the look. I just don’t want to lose any performance or create any drone from the dump.

I am browsing for Tundras but currently on my 13' Silverado I just bought a borla pro XS muffler ($100), had a shop weld in it ($50) and take out my resonator (another $50). Made a real quiet truck sound perfect to me. It was exactly what I was after. I think the dimensions of it are 14" long and 9" wide. My point is if all you want is a better sound with a budget, just swap the muffler for a smaller one. I'd do a magnaflow or Borla and leave the drone master for the 16 year olds

Has anyone here checked into the Carvin progressive muffler replacement? TRD Jon on YouTube did a review after trying a few other ones and he liked the quality of the sound from the Carvin the best. I just ordered one but its like a 5-week wait.

It’s crazy to use a Chinese muffler retrofitted to a particular vehicle in the name of keeping it cheap when there’s an option which is developed by a tundra enthusiast whom specializes in said truck.

I ordered a Carven Replacement muffler 3 weeks ago. Today they told me my order will ship in 7-10 days. This weekend I'm installing the CZ Global Engineering Cat Shield and then the ceramic coating shop will have my truck for 3 days to install PPF and ceramic coating so the timing works out. I also watched all the YouTube videos on all the popular mufflers and decided the Carven was what I wanted.

I finally received my Carven muffler after a 7 week wait. Installed it including the 5" outlet tip and I like the sound and there is no discernible drone on the highway or surface streets. I kept the OEM resonator. Very happy with it!
