Really nice covers. The smooth finish looks clean. If they ever come out with a lower profile model, I'll be buying one.

The DiamondBack height is mostly due to the stringers that support the top, which is important if you intend to carry a 4-wheeler on top, but I don't need that. Almost every low-profile 3 or 4 panel cover follows the same basic design pattern, uses the same materials, and I'm pretty sure is made by one or two companies and just re-branded. Would like to see DiamondBack engineer something better than what's currently out there.

I just installed an MX4 on my 2021 TSS and am very pleased with the fit, ease of installation and look. We had a mild hail storm a few days ago and I can find no sign of damage to truck or tonneau. Maybe they have toughened the material or finish.

Added this BakFlip MX4 a few days ago. It made it through a mild hail storm with no damage and the ease of installation was surprising.

I thought I had myself sold on a DiamondBack, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the simplicity of the UnderCover one-piece tonneau covers. At the end of the day I went with the UnderCover SE. You can download the installation instructions online if you want to see the parts, but I thought I'd post a few of the overhanging areas to give you an idea of how it covers the bed.

    Initial thoughts:

At <$1000, I think it's got to be one of the better deals.
Solid construction - probably will easily hold the 500# they say it should evenly distributed.
Hauling anything on top without protection would likely scratch the hell out of it, but I may consider putting a rack system on it at some point.
I installed it by myself pretty easily. That said, it's pretty awkward to lift on your own. I'm 6' and I don't have the wingspan of a NBA player, but I was able to handle it.
The locking mechanism is clearly a deterrent, not a fail-safe option. It needed minor adjustment after installation for the lock to latch. Not a defect - it's the way it's made.
Easy to take off - easier with someone else
I have yet to see how weatherproof it really is since it hasn't rained, but it's got to be pretty good.

Great choice if you have no issues with the functionally of a one piece tonneau - Looks Great!

I have a Rugged Cover HC3 Premium Hard Folding cover. After just looking at the various types on the trucks in the neighborhood and paying attention driving on the interstate, I decided a hard cover was for me. But I did not want one that required installation of that auxiliary rail and drain tubes...I was willing to compromise on the profile for that. That really limited my choices. This model could not be easier to install (four clamps and done). There was some minor leaks on the sides with water coming in where those raised-dot ridges on bed caps have those 1/2" gaps. I bought a roll of 1/16" thick x 1/2" wide weather-stripping and that problem was solved. Yeah there is still some occasional leakage around the tail gate which is not the fault of the cover. I just live with it. I have not installed any weather-stripping around the tailgate. I like the security straps that come with this cover, so if any of the clamps fail, the cover won't go flying off into traffic. The LED lights were a waste since my truck has the bed lights. Really really really happy with this purchase so far...it has been only 4 months so time will tell. I bought it online and got 15% off the MSRP of $799 and free shipping.

I am glad you asked for pictures but I will get to that.

First of all, I bought it from Truck Here when they were having a holiday sale of 15% off back in late December.

Pictures 1 and 3 show how it looks installed. Note in picture 3 that the perimeter of the cover is beveled to give it a sleeker appearance. Plus IIRC it is a bit thinner overall than other models. So thinner and beveled results in a less bulky look than most "on bed" models. You can see in picture 5 the safety strap. There is one in the other forward corner as well. I don't now if covers flying off is a common occurrence, but this gives ME peace of mind none the less.

As for the leak I mentioned, if you look at the top rail of your bed, you will see ridges with elevated dots on the plastic caps (they show in picture 2). These ridges are not continuous the entire way and have gaps. The seal on the cover just cannot seat in into those gaps to prevent water from entering. If you look at picture 2, you can see I put a small piece of 1/16" thick weather stripping into these gaps (two per side). That stopped the leaks..or so I thought.

As you can see in the pictures, it was and had been raining (not much wind) when I took the pictures. When I opened the tailgate to take the pictures of the safety strap, I saw the water pictured in picture 5. A quick investigation leads me to believe the cover seal is not quite seated on the passengers side right where those same ridges basically come to an end. The last picture shows what I am talking about (just above the "S" in the TSS decal). I will have to think about this for a while to see if I can use that same weather stripping to stop this leak. Cannot be too hard...the other side did not leak. Maybe just reseating the cover will resolve it. Luckily we don't get a lot of rain events here is South Texas so not a first world problem.

I know most (all?) cover manufactures will never guarantee no leaks, so I figure this is just par for the course, and really is caused by the truck and not the cover. I would still buy this cover. I like the easy installation, the looks for an on-bed cover, the safety straps and of course the "hard" construction that provides a bit more security than a soft cover.

That cover looks good I’ve been looking at that one and the rugged cover II ( now called E series hard cover) does the HC3 have the dust seal in the front that goes between the cab and the bed like their other model has. I’m also wondering if you could adjust the cover more towards the tailgate to eliminate the leak in that area.
One other question will that cover work with the utility tracks.

There was an option when ordering to identify if you had the utility track or not, so yeah I think it will. They just include some extra hardware if I remember right.

And yes it has that seal across the entire front...more of flap than seal really.

As for moving it back, I might try that. But the further back it is positioned, the harder it is to open the tailgate as the tailgate pushes the cover up slightly when you open it But thinking about it, even after I did move it forward to make that a bit easier, I applied some black trim dressing to the top of the tail gate which really helped that issue. So it might be worth trying to move it back some even though I don't think that matters if it is leaking where i think it is. I went out again this morning and dried out that little bit of water and then tightened the clamp on that side by two turns...maybe that will pull the seal tighter. It is suppose to rain again tonight so I might have my answer in the morning.

I believe that E series is pretty much the same without the lights and safety straps, but I could be wrong. I did not care about the lights but I really like having those safety straps.

Anyone have a gator efx? They look as good if not better than bakflip for about $300 less. They definitely look like they mount on the oem track better and more flush with the top of the bed.

Looking at the instructions, how much interference is there from the insides of the bed body is there? it appears to somewhat use the rails but not fully? Also since it goes over the sides, have you had any rattle or paint issues with it?

So after tightening the back clamps two revolutions, the leak has pretty much stopped. We have had some heavy rains recently too. I was being very careful with tightening those clamps as if you pull them too tight you could damage the cover or perhaps have "dimples" show up on the top side. I now believe any water in that back corner area is just coming through the sides of the tailgate as I did not put any weather-stripping on the sides of the tail gate. I guess I could try since i have plenty left, but I doubt 1/16" thick would do the job.

Here are a couple of shots of the inside with the hardware. Also - I’ve had no noise at all, rattling or otherwise.

Edit - No paint problems either. It doesn't actually touch the truck: It sits on the bed rail caps and has a gasket around it.

Appreciate the info! Took a while due to a very busy schedule, but I found that rather than wait 30 days for them to make it and get it here I found one on Amazon with a 3 day arrival. So I got the Undercover Elite mostly because I liked the lock setup a bit better for where the truck will spend it's time as well as the couple addons. But it looks great and is an awesome cover, really appreciate the info.

No problem - funny you replied now. We just took the Tundra from Ohio to SC with the Undercover Elite on and even in pouring rain it was totally dry inside the bed. It's been so much better to throw everything in the back of the truck and know it will stay dry.

Completely agree the bed is 100% dry, the cover is a beast. Love to have the hanging hooks, just going to have to find someone to give me a hand with that, the wife is too short. Apparently since it's not heavy furniture that she moves around the house when I'm out of town, the top is far too heavy for her LOL.

Thanks again otherwise I'd still be guessing.

I have the simple Truxedo sport cover, it was super affordable right around 300 I believe. Easy to install and keeps things dry, except for the truck gaps in the tailgate and bulkhead. I love how you can roll it up and it doesn’t occupy any bed space. It’s convenient when getting a load put in the bed. I have had it for over two years. I don’t park in a garage so it’s not protected from sun, I just use 303 on it and it’s held up great. Never had to adjust the tension on it and no fading!

Do you have an XR (integrated rail) variant?

Just got my rugged liner installed. I know this type of trifold covers are never water proof, so I have a 55 gallon home depot storage bin to store my stuff.

I got the one that retains the factory tie down system. Super low profile, easy to install, easy to operate. No complaints so far. The X4S looks to be much improved over the X4.
