If aFe made that Pro- Guard 7 for our Tundra I'd drop it in right now!

I’ve run K&N filters since the 70s as well. Motorcycles, cars (Porsche, MB, Audi, Jaguar, Mini, BMW), and trucks. Not a sensor problem or engine issue in all those years.

I’ve seen plenty of intake runner dust on vehicles running paper filters. No filter, “filters” everything and paper filters become increasingly restrictive over time.

More to the point, if there was an issue with other than paper media, Toyota wouldn’t be sanctioning other than paper media, aka TRD filters.

Yep, back in the day everyone was running with K&N's. Down in Baja, Mohave, sand dunes, you name it. I used K&N oiled foam filters on my dirt bikes. Everyone used them. Still do!

    The Dirty T

Good points, but on this we will have to agree to disagree. Like I said, I have used K&N filters in my area and have seen the dirt they let pass. I've never seen evidence of dust getting past a paper filter.

Me too. Ran the PG-7 on turbos at 50ish psi, no dusting always clean but not much off-road. These are very good filters also, never used on a Tundra, but a few F-150’s that weren’t slow.

Use what is best for you. Keep in mind I never once claimed that K&N's are the best filter. All filters pass particulates even paper filters otherwise there would be no airflow. No vehicle air filter has surgical mask specs. When you get down to less than 20 microns, any dust/silt that small that will be instantly pulverized to oblivion before doing any damage. Science......

S&B has the best filter efficiency in the business. They make mil spec filters for helo's and Abrahm tanks that are/were used in the middle east invironment. Alas....no drop in for us civilian peons!

The Volant has great efficiency specs and a very good testing protocol like S&B has. You run a lot in extreme conditions so naturally you want what works for you. All of you folks here that run the desert a LOT definitely want good filtration and good cameras for the anti gravity situations....ha!

Stick to paper. Not worth buying a reusable filter. Their not cost effective till 90K if you replace a paper filter every 30K. Plus depending on environment it maybe sooner than that.

Millions of folks that use reusable filters would disagree.....just sayin. Decent Purolators run around $20. Replace every year. Adds up unless you buy cheap paper filters.

Millions of folks are wasting money and don’t have a clue...just sayin. Regular filters will filter far better that reuseables.

From what I have been reading it seems that the best air filter is the OEM .
