I searched the forum for USB Flush Mount and haven't seen anything in the last year or so. I'm hoping someone came up with a way to mount USB plugs into the existing blank areas on my center console. For example under my AC dials there are 4 spots one of them is taken up by the Aux port. It would be nice to have the USB ports from my upcoming new radio (next week) mounting in one of the existing blank areas.

    Any Ideas?

I installed one of these. I don't really use it, but I wanted a pass through to the USB input on the rear of the head unit. This particular item has that USB pass through, and it also has an additional, low current USB port for charging. I just tapped into the cigarette lighter power leads since I don't ever use the cigarette lighter. This USB ports aren't high current or anything, either.

I can't actually speak about the quality of the USB connection to the head unit. I think I remember some people complaining that the USB cable isn't shielded, so there is potential for noise susceptibility. But I remember looking around, and pretty much there aren't any other options aside from cheap-o things like this.

    Does it fit the opening?

    Thanks,

Yes, the "3.3A + Audio" one does. There is a compatibility list in the item description, but people in the reviews who say the don't fit must have completely ignored it and ordered the wrong one. I installed it on a 2008 Tundra without issue. Even though the list says "Tundra 2008 - ON", I have to imagine it'll fit the 2007:
    Toyota Sequoia 2008 - ON; Toyota Highlander 2008 - ON; Toyota Tacoma 2012 - ON Center ONLY; Toyota Tundra 2008 - ON; Toyota 4Runner 2010 - ON; Toyota RAV4 2008 - 2012; Toyota Yaris 2008.

Interesting in finding out how it works. I am going to be ordering a head unit in short order (maybe today) and was thinking the same thing. I dont want a dangly cord coming out of my dash to connect the phone.

I found this one and some have said it works just fine with a head unit and also ina Tundra but the other one listed has more reviews on fit but not as good reviews on the unit.

I was going to mount a usb in the blank spot but I don't like seeing chord on my dash. I chose to get a usb rapid charger that replaces the cigarette lighter. I bought two. One I placed where the cigarette lighter is and the other under the front middle seat compartment that lifts up. I use that one more. I have two, one going to driver side and one to the passenger side. No visible chords.

Darn, I was SO hoping this would end well, still no answer or pics??? - Obviously I need one to prevent the dangly cord from behind the HU as well...

It's easy to do. I mounted one in my 2020 while I was waiting for the OEM retention cable to be released. You can use an Exacto knife to cut the opening, just watch the fingers. Once the USB is mounted, you can use JB Weld epoxy to hold it in.

I appreciate that effort, but would rather the one that just fits nicely like factory. I know it exists, it’s just hard to find the P/N

Here is what I ended up with. I bought it off Amazon and when Best Buy installed the radio they also installed the USB plugs.

11/14/23 Update on part above from Amazon with blue/orange lighting. May have started working intermittently. Either that or Alpine software got worse but connecting has seemed to get tougher & tougher to accomplish over the last couple years. Annoyed enough to order different brand & try to ensure not similar to this one.
