I’ve narrowed it down to the above 2 covers. What I would like to know is how they are holding up after a year and more later. If you happen to be the owner of either, please share your experience.

The revolver x4s just came out, I installed it last week. Not sure all the improvements from the x4, I know the aluminum slats are now black and their are wing nuts to attach to rails. I assume the material of the cover itself is the same or similar to the x4...
Maybe someone can talk about the condition after a year with that?

The peragon requires removal of the deck rails. Thats a killing point imo

The x4s brackets have threaded holes to remount the deck rails after cover rails are installed. Moved the rails down about an inch or two.

What are your thoughts regarding the X4S? Does it look like it’ll last for many years without the warping, tearing buckling, etc?

I've had the revolver X4 for a few years now. Still looks good no issues with the cover bending or warping. Unfortunately my truck lives outside year round and even with snow load no issues. One thing I can tell you is in the winter it can get stiff and be kinda a pain to roll up. As fast as water getting in it's not 100% but it better than any other cover I've had. I would buy it again if I got a new truck.

This is not the case. I installed mine with modified mounting brackets that slid into the bed rails. I found that trick on this site.

HOWEVER, if you do get the Peragon, make sure to keep all the packaging to take advantage of their 100 day return policy. I found it to be flimsy and sent it back because I didn't think it would last a year, much less 10.

I’m interested in the modified mounting brackets. Can you share that link? What tonneau did you go with after sending back the Peragon?

Seems to be good quality, time will tell. I like that it is very low profile, decently waterproof, just tailgate corners leak some water. See what happens after a few seasons.

I believe this video has the bracket modification. I have the Peragon and kept my bed rails, had to buy smaller plastic handle lock bolts off of Amazon. Mine has been installed for over a year, I use it every day as I carry tools for work that require daily access. Even had lumber fall off my rack onto the cover with no damage. If I had to do it again I would still buy the Peragon, has been great for my needs.

When I learned about the paragon inwas initially excited but the more I've learned and more reviews I've seen, I wouldn't waste my money on them. A few members have bought and returned due to poor quality or it not functioning correctly. I know there are a few that like it but it seems like a smaller number.
For me, the biggest negative is that if you load your bed all the way up with your cover covering the bed, you then have no way to retract the cover to get things out of the bed.... for the cost of the peragon, I think you have better options out there.
Just do your research and good luck

Here is the link to what I used as an example. I just used my bench grinder to modify the clamps.
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/trd-pro-tonneau-recommendation.67380/#post-1751341

I ended up going with the Armor Flex. I like it ok, but I wish I had know then that the Diamond cover came in black. I would have gotten that one instead.

After much deliberation, I decided to go with a Lomax Hard Tri-Fold Cover. Ordered from autoanything.com

Does the Lomax require any modification or lowering of existing bed rails?

The Lomax is a no modification install. It’s very simple and quick.

Did you by chance shim yours per the diagram? I just got a 21 tundra and the X4s and sat a rail on the bed tonight and it looked almost perfectly flush and straight. But was wondering if these instructions were outdated (even though the X4s was released like a year ago) since the Toyota section doesn’t have anything that notes “-current”

I have the Bak revolver and could not be happier. 30+ years of truck ownership, 12 different covers and I will honestly say this is the best ever. It’s expensive but that is the only negative. Install is a breeze, 99.5 waterproof, bed rails and cleats are still in use.

Agreed with above for anybody looking in the future. Installed mine with no shims (see two posts above) and it was a perfect fit and lock after making sure it was straight. I had the Extang Solidfold 2.0 on my last truck, and it was great. I loved how sturdy it was, but I like that you can access more bed with this cover fully opened. It’s also easier for my wife to open. She never figured out the solidfold haha. I haven’t tested water proof ness yet, but I asked the Bak chat folks why this one doesn’t have a drain like the BakFlip MX4. Guy said I’m not really supposed to say this, but it’s definitely more water tight than the MX4 so it doesn’t need a drain. That helped sell me on choosing the X4s. Very happy so far.

I know the OP ordered something different but for anyone looking still i have had both the paragon and the x4s on tundras. I would take the x4s over paragon simply because if a box or something slides to them front of the bed you can not collapse the cover until you remove the item blocking it. I have experienced this on several occasions.

I have found no issues with the x4s, yet. Out of all the covers I have owned this one is my favorite so far.

Thinking of the same cover. Had an MX4 for almost 4yrs with no issues other than when they freeze rolling up is pretty much out of the question. What bed lights are you running?

OEM had them install at dealership before I picked up. Figured I could tap into them if I wanted to add an LED strip or something later on! Happy with them so far.

How do you like that bed extender? Do you find you use it often?

just got the truck a month ago so haven’t had many opportunities yet! I previously had another truck but didn’t have this on it just a cover. Saw someone on here said they did the cover/extender combo to help keep things up front of the bed and then use the Extender when needed so I thought I Would give it a try. Tonneaucovered.com had it for 240 out the door. Nice quality but had to get the spacers so it would fit with the revolver. Have seen others say it got in the way more than they used it and I could see that but it’s really easy to remove when not needed.

sure thing! I am also thinking about doing this mod to it below. Seems like it could be handy. Although I had my pole saw going through the openings this weekend when I helped my parents with some tree trimming so pros and cons no doubt! Would be useful for Costco trips probably holding stuff in the front of the bed. But I also have so much more room in the crew max back seat than my previous truck that it may have been over kill. Hopefully I get some good use out of it! I plan on a lot of landscape refreshing in the spring rocks and mulch and such. Also I decided to loctite red on the above spacer assembly because the bolts started coming loose after riding around for a few weeks. This probably wouldn’t happen if you drilled into the bed, but might at least need some loctite blue if you did the no drill plate. I figured if I got a different cover down the road and can’t get it apart I’ll just get another $26 no drill plate set.

Just got my Bakflip Revolver X4S cover yesterday, and I just installed. It was super easy to install, and it works really well. Incredibly convenient...
