I would keep trying to drill it out. If you think it's fubar'ed then it can't hurt. Worst case the part is $40 if I remember correctly and yes it goes to the head unit. I wish I would have kept trying to drill mine out when this happened but I got pissed and bought the new part!

Had to drill the hole out to 3/32 before the extractor would bite, but once it did worked like a charm, thx for the details in this thread, was quite pissed when it broke off, luckily only took 5 mins to fix

This was great advice to me! Thank you! I bought the irwin extractor set listed earlier in this thread and had no luck. So ... in desperation, I just kept drilling. At one point, when I attempted to back out the regular drill bit the original antenna stem just came out with it. Don't be afraid .. just get after it. If youre gonna have to pay 100's to a dealer anyway what do you have to lose? Good luck!

All I did to get the broken piece out of my 2014 was mount a small carbide burr in my drill and run it in reverse on top of the broken part. It backed right out. The threads in these antenna mounts are extremely sloppy so it is very unlikely that the broken piece will need much force to back out.

    Unfortunately no luck here.

Used one of my bolt extractors, but the threads at the top were a bit damaged and the new antenna wouldn't thread in. Ran a tap through it quickly and got the new antenna on. No luck. Might be digging in to replace the whole module. Not excited.

The replacement antenna that I had ordered from Amazon came with a stud that screwed into both the base and the antenna. you could epoxy this into the base and screw the antenna onto it. May not look great with the antenna off, but you would not be able to tell with it on.

Just replaced/fix my snapped off antenna from '02 Tundra so I thought I'd share it here in case anyone was interested.

Truck was brought to the carwash one-too-many times this summer for the kids enjoyment (since I have an unlimited pass). Below are the tools/materials I used to extract the broken screw which was about 3/4" inch.
Dont want to bore anyone with the details. Just let me know if you are in the same pickle and I'll be more than happy to assist.

Fast forward or Nov. 13, 2023…Toyota dealership in Birmingham, AL…~$280 for a new remote fob and program my other key. They quoted me $780 to repair(replace) my antenna broken off from the car wash. I am NOT a mechanic but drilled a very shallow hole into the stud with a 1/16th bit, bought a 1x Irwin extractor bit and ran the stud out with my fore finger and thumb. Yea. Any suggestions on replacement base and short antenna?
