Not sure if anyone has done a DIY for this or not so i figured I would make a post to help anyone. I am not a personal fan of chrome trim pieces, my rig is a Blacked out 15 PRO and i just dislike the silver & chrome so I decided to dive in one day at the shop. This is my 2nd go thru at this I vinyl wrapped it the first time but didnt do a great job so this time i went back in. For mine I simply used black plasti dip for the main portions and i did the A/c rings red.

    Tools:
Plastic pry tools(can be found at harbor freight for around $10)
    Philips screwdriver
10mm socket regular socket will work for all of it but if you have a magnetic socket that would best for the radio bolts.
6 inch extension to get to back radio bolts.
    Flashlight
Pocket driver(techs know) or small thin flat head(helps to undo clips & connectors.

***Disconnect negative terminal on battery**** Prior to work and let sit for 5 minutes.

^ Safety first i put this because you will handle an airbag assembly.

Step 1: using pry tool pop cupholder ring off(if sticky you can wait and pull it out after the main console is off)

2: Open center console and using pry tool pop out the cover around the shifter(it includes the little change holder)

3: Under the shifter cover you removed you sill see a philips screw there are 2 pretty close but you only need to remove the one that goes to the center console. After the screw is out you can pull up on it towards the front cup holder and the back on, once its popped up slide it towards the assenger side and its out.

Drivers side area 4: move the seat all the way back for some room. Remove the door guard it pops up(4 tabs hold it) then in the upper corner of the kick panel you will see a small plastic nut spin it off(shouldnt be more then hand tight and pull the kick panel off(had 2 angle clips)

5: There are 2 10mm bolts that hold the lower panel in they are on the bottom corners 1 is to the left of the hood release the other is to the right next to the center console. remove both and then pull out on this panel start at the bottom and work your way up. not this just needs to be out of the way to remove other panels you can leave everything plugged in and let it hang or you can disconnect them and pull the panel completely out its your preference.

6: Using pry tool remove left drivers side a/c vent & short trim below it
    IMG_0643.jpg IMG_0644.jpg IMG_0645.jpg

7: Now on the right side of the steering wheel, remove the panel with you trac & tow/haul switches and disconnect them & remove the grey trim pieces above it.
    IMG_0646.jpg IMG_0647.jpg

8: Removing the cluster cover. In the top of the cluster there are 2 clips, you simply push them in the center but not too hard you dont want to push the pin through and lose them then using your pocket driver pull the clips out. then pull out on the over enough for it to be loose you will notice it is still attached to the steering wheel this small cover is held in by 4 tabs it doesnt take much pressure to pull them apart and then you can remove the cover fully.IMG_0642.jpg IMG_0648.jpg IMG_0649.jpg

now on to the passenger side: 9: remove the door guard & kick panel same as the drivers side.

10: Now below the glove box you will see the passenger knee airbag. now the the left of the airbag there is a cut out which looks like it is a cover using your pry tool pop this cover out but done yank on it on the bottom side of this there are 3 tabs that you can see and you will need to squeeze them in to release and then remove the cover.

11: There are (3) 10mm bolts holding the airbag assembly in, remove these and then the airbag can be removed and set on the floor, if you have a smaller shoe box of similar you can sit it in the floor and then the airbag on top of it to keep stress off the wires.
    IMG_0652.jpg IMG_0653.jpg

    12. Glove box removal, on the bottom of the glove box there is 1 10mm bolt on the right side and a screw on the left lower side of it(maybe 1 more bolt you will be able to see if anymore are present) now open the glove box and there are 3 screws along the top, remove all 3 then pull out on the glove box and remove it from vehicle.
    IMG_0654.jpg IMG_0655.jpg

13: Now remove the upper long trim piece that the right hand a/c vent sits using pry tools it pops out straight and same for the longer grey piece below it.
    IMG_0656.jpg IMG_0657.jpg

14: Climate control panel this panel is a little tricky to get a good pry point & when you pull this out it will also pull the lower panel with the charging ports & usb. both of these have just clips no bolts. so using a pry tool disengage the clips by pulling it out. once you get it loose and pull it back a few inches you will need to disconnect the climat control connector and then you get more room to pull back and disconnect the usb & charge port connectors. and once they are removed you will see a wire clipped into the large silver center trim if you look closely at the clip you will see 2 tabs in the center of it push them in and the clip comes out.
    IMG_0658.jpg IMG_0659.jpg IMG_0660.jpg

15: radio removal. using the 6in extension and magnetic 10mm socket remove the 4 bolts at the bottom of the radio. then using a pry tool, pry the upper edge against the dash and at the bottom and the radio will pop out(2 clips holding at the top) Now pull the radio foward and disconnect connectors to radio, now will entune now all of them will need to be unplugged. see below
    IMG_0660.jpg IMG_0661.jpg IMG_0662.jpg

16: Now for the last piece, just clips hold the large center trim on, just grab on the corners and sides and work back and for and it will come loose, but dont get too aggressive as you will need to unplug the 4wd switch(if equipped) once removed you are ready to customize as you wish.
    IMG_0663.jpg

Once remove the for the a/c ring the 2 outside vents will have3 screws on the back of each holding them in. and the center vents have tabs holding them to the center piece(lift up on the tabs and pull on the vent and they come right out same method is used to separate the ring from the actual vent.

    RE-assembly follow backwards.

Previously i had vinyl wrapped mine but being my first Vinyl wrap it didn't turn out very well for me & and i kinda wanted to go back to a more simple and clean dash look. So i simply plasti dipped the main center piece and the cup holder trim & shifter trim. and for the a/c vents i went with red to go with the dash stiching of the pro.

Thanks, I figured i could put my tech skill too use and help some fellas out, i see alot of people ask about how to put these pieces out. I was going to folow TIS on the disassembly but way too many steps, i said fuck that. My foreman came over during the middle of it and had to see what i was messing with now lol.

Yeah, I wanna take mine apart and do the same thing but I don't have the patience or an all day chunk of time to do that. I believe the Pro's come apart a little differently than the rest of us Limited's, SR5's and Platinums (At least from your write up the best I can tell they do) Almost the same though, close enough to use this as a guide. I especially hate when the sun reflects directly off of the shifter surround and cup holder chrome right into my eyes . Blinding!!!:annoyed:

Thanks Tim. Can the passenger "upper trim piece" (that includes the right AC vent) be removed by itself or does anything else need to come off first? Same Q for the glove box.

I didnt mind the first time so much since it was all out i could run and hide my dash cam wire thru there & the radar detector wire. side note the plug in the center dash speaker is a blank plug as long as you have auto dim mirror already( this plug is where the solar sensor would normally be. so you can pull the plug and run wires thru it.

Thanks I appreciate the positive feedback. I knew when I pulled it all back off I wanted to go with black but I wanted to do something with the rings. I was goin to do a metallic red but decided to go with the bright red looked and matched everything better.

I agree!! I will likely be doing this again, but with brighter red paint, and way better surface prep.

Read this a couple times...did you by chance mean as long as you "don't" have auto dim? My Plat has auto dim mirrors so just confirm that plug is blank? If so where does the sensor live?

Sorry I had this sensor confused. that plug is where the solar sensor goes and actually it is only there if you have automatic a/c, and with a Platinum i assume you do? This is my fault, so if you have auto a/c, the solar sensor is there, if manual a/c it is blank.

Good to go Tim thanks for the follow up. I figured it had something to do with the auto headlights too because they come on when I put my sun screen there when I park. Too bad though...would like to have another place to drop a feed.

What else did you make red. The little red accents in the pro to set off the stitching and embroidery is dope. With my front springs too it'll be sick

I just did the vent rings red. I didn't wanna go overboard on the interior. I may do the silver trim in the door panels not sure yet
