Agreed, an EV would be great for my wife's vehicle. She drives it back and forth from work about 70 miles a day and that is it. We could easily charge it at home every night. We take my truck everywhere else. I would be very interested in a plug in hybrid truck though that gave about 30-50 miles of range on electric that would cover my daily commute most of the time, but still allowed for long trips or when towing etc.

There's a better chance that the generator I'm lugging around won't start.

Has anyone seen anything else about the patent plans found last year for what looked like a diesel that wouldn't require dpf or def?
I know it was filed in the US but haven't seen anything else since

Yes it was about ducted fuel injection but no confirmation if it had to do with a diesel, though that could easily be assumed. But there has been nothing that suggest the Tundra is getting a diesel engine of any sort.

A fella can hope for a tundra diesel without the choking emissions, but I've come to terms with 1 engine choice for the tundra.
I was just curious if there'd been anymore word about it or where it could be potentially used. If it is a diesel, it may never see daylight

I can't wait for the all electric Tundra. I'll tow my 8,400lb Jayco to my campsite and turn on my 4k Gas generator to charge it up for the return trip home.

I'm concerned the new Tundra will have the new infotainment screen like the highlander or that new concept BEV. Not a huge fan of the way it sits above the dash.

I don't understand why almost all new cars do this. Given how often (most) vehicles are redesigned, it's not like they're just trying to tack a touchscreen onto an old design. They could put a little effort into making it look like it belongs.

I like how the Ford Sync 4 one is in the F150-F450. And sure looks like they have room to go a little bigger if they want to keep going with the 1-upping at some point. Maybe it's an advantage of the bigger dash you get in pickups and that's why it can't be in smaller vehicles.

The Porsche Taycan has some pretty cool looking screens. I am curious how the passenger airbag blows though.

Yeah, probably. I think trucks and big SUVs are the only place people still want a tall, square dash.

I really like the way the screen/dash looks in the Challenger. Very old school feel. But there are a limited number of cars that would work on.

It really does seem like they aren't putting effort into the flow of the design. I did drive a Ram 1500 recently with the 12" screen and it was definitely impressive but I found the touch screen buttons being on the bottom put my field of vision way to low in the truck.

One thing I don't want to see - owners manual only in the infotainment system. New F150's I see have this - what happens if I have the battery disconnected and I need to see the fuse diagram? It's not something that happens that much, but when it does you'd be mighty pissed they got rid of the paper copy.

I would wait until the 2023 Tundra to see if any issues arise. Nothing wrong with the Tundra you have.

That wouldn’t be a problem if they just labeled the damned fuse box cover like they should have to begin with!!!! Sorry, pet peeve

Here is a good video that explains why toyota takes forever to do anything. And explains why the 2022 tundra has taken so long to develop.

Great video but the Tundra’s development time was a choice more than a function of the Toyota way.

Toyota vehicles always have a long recycle time. They also have long development times. Especially when introducing new technology.

Will I be buying a 2022? Definitely NO! I have no faith on the Chief engineer for Tacoma and Tundra trucks. I have own a few Tacomas and the 3rd gen is worst of all, and Tundras did not get any better under his leadership.
In fact every year things got taken away, even the tranny cooler, I am sure my 2007 Tundra is going to outlast any 2021

I've been looking for a used 2019-2020 Crewmax Platinum Tundy and for the amount I have to pay for one I could practically buy new. Like everyone I'm just waiting for more news on this 2022 to make a decision. I also test drove a Ram 1500...

I have 170K on my 2008 Crewmax and am over payload. I plan on getting a 2022 unless towing and payload are not what the rumours say they will be. hoping for at least 1,700lbs payload and 12k towing capacity. Otherwise looking at a GMC Denali.
