Dammit, I was too vague trying to play on a previous gripe I'd seen about only getting 30 gals in on the fill up after miles to empty show 0.:laugh:

I guess you could technically use it all if you could drive in a manner to keep the last couple gallons of gas in the fuel pick up.

    A bunch
It's all about parking, and I prefer Toyota's version. If you're driving it'll move around enough you can pick up nearly all of it, but if you then park it can run away from the pickup. I've been in a Ford where I couldn't start a truck with 1/4 of a tank, just parked wrong and had to roll it down the slope to flatter ground to get fuel to the pickup.

New Member, first post. As the owner of a 2016 4Runner that I am looking to move out of for a Tundra here is what is on my list.

    1. V6 TT I am an unabashed turbo fan, living here in Colorado and frequently travelling to elevations from 10,000ft+ they just make so much sense.
    2. Better Gas mileage I have no concerns that this is coming, Toyota cannot miss on this, V6TT combined with mild hybrid would be amazing but I won't hold my breath on the hybrid
    3. Modern Safety Package I would like the full suite of features that come with almost every new car over $28k at this point. Auto cruise, braking, rear alert, lane keep, smart headlights, etc.
    4. Large Screen Infotainment with Wireless Carplay This is pretty much tablesteaks at this point in the full size space. Toyota better keep up.
    5. Off Road Features I plan to use mine for hunting, fishing, overlanding. Want the full TRD Pro feature suite. Locking diffs front and rear would be nice over just rear. 360 trail cams are nice
    6. Convenience features On board power, lay flat seats, tailgate step, heated/cooled items, area lighting, etc
    7. Panoramic Roof. Love the feeling of a more open air cabin.

The current Tundra has the safety features you mention in #3 in the upper trim levels.

A factory supercharged V8 option. But I'd settle for a V8 option period.

Option for 4 captains chairs in platinum and 1794 trim levels. Gotta give Ford credit, it’s one thing they did correct.

Let me change my #1 on my wish list. I first had Hybrid I want to change that to a Plug In Hybrid.

I don't think I'd even wait to test drive it I'd lay my money down and order it day one.

Once on the turbo the mpg is going to drop. So, fuel milage between an 8 and 6TT will be about the same when smashing the throttle or pulling heavy loads. Diesel doesn't make sense in a 1/2 ton. Small diesels have good torque, but lack hp. Large diesels... just need to be in 3/4 ton and up trucks. With turbo's torque peaks at lower rpm and carries up and good mpg when not on turbo.A hybrid system in an AWD can add more additional torque down low to get the vehicle up to speed. Pulling up to highway speeds should only require hybrid help for 10sec or so. Some hybrids have a manual regenerative breaking mode which would work well with a heavy loads and making sure the battery gets full charged again before another take off event. Drop weight with composite bed, aluminum sheet metal, electric front wheel drive for assist and AWD when needed.

It would be nice if the inside can area was quieter. I’ve had to sound deaded our 2018 bc it was way to loud and lots of road noise inside. After I did this it was way better. I might do the floors next but that take more time and not as easy but if they new one had Lexus type damping that would be great.

    Biggest hitters for me:
    • Reliability similar to what we have now
    • Increased payload capacity
    • Increased torque and hp (not much more)
    • Blind spot monitoring come standard
    Secondary:
    • Updated tech, such as better temp monitoring apps in screen
    • More efficient engine
    • Better key fob lol
    • More comfortable front seats
    • For it to not be ugly, lol
    • Locking rear diff
    • LED for all lighting

What I want in the 2022 Tundra is for it to be released, so that I can wait a year and replace my wife's aging Highlander with the redesigned 2023 Sequoia cousin. I'll keep my V8 Tundra and won't have to feel any sort of way about the new hybrid powerplant in the new platform.
Best of both worlds in my book.

I am pretty sure I will be doing the same when it comes time to get a new rig.

Keep my 18 Platinum for towing and truck stuff, and then replace the wife’s Pro 4Runner with a Sequoia.

I really like her 4R, but having something a bit bigger, powerful, and luxurious / modern would be nice.

Bed rails below the box line so they're out of sight and don't interfere with tonneaus/shells.
V8 but find a way to get better fuel mileage.
    Better towing/payload capacity.
    Under seat storage for CM.
    Better infotainment system. Wireless carplay.
    More discrete TSS sensor.
Similar front seat area - current gen has got to be the best useable space I've ever seen in a vehicle with all the cupholders and space to put stuff.
NO STUPID ASS ELECTRIC TAILGATE RELEASE. In three trucks I've seen these on, three of them haven't worked. The problem when white collar engineers start designing trucks for working folk.

For them to meep the v8, better speakers and the 360 cameras. Better payload would be nice. Current towing numbers are fine. Anything over that shouldn't be towed with a half ton especially since they are getting lighter

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
We can put this want list in with poo in one hand and wish in the other.... but here goes with some mental masturbation nonetheless!

Dimensions: The current Tundra is big enough, but an optional 6.5ft bed for the Crew Max would make sense. Personally that’s longer than I want to deal with and it would be super tight to get in my garage, but others would surely buy them. Slight increases in size otherwise are acceptable.

I would like to see a high feature composite bed, and a higher feature tailgate to ease access to the bed. By high feature bed I mean optional locking storage areas, and cargo management.

All LED lighting across the model range, and I want very powerful high beams. I work on call, I drive a lot at night to or from work in a very rural area devoid of any street lights or other lighting. So powerful high beams are a must, trust me when I say it’s nice to be able to spot a herd of elk in the road way beyond minimum safe braking distance.

I would love the option to buy a truck with a Torsen full time AWD center differential with a low range transfer case.

Larger fuel tank than my 2007, I don’t care if the truck gets 24-30MPG; I still want a minimum 30 gallon tank and 35 gallons would be better still.

Better ride quality without sacrificing payload or towing.

Engines: I’d like to have the option of a modernized 3UR-FE maybe expanded to 6.2L with port and direct injection. If it made 430-450hp, and 470–500lb-ft that would be awesome. Not going to happen though.

So the 6 cylinder I would like to see an inline 6. Also not going to happen.

How about the 3.3L Diesel for the US market? Please Toyota? It makes the same power as the first 6.6L Duramax! In a half ton that would be outstanding. Then put the hybrid bits on the diesel to fill in power delivery gaps due to turbo lag or fueling strategies to reduce NOx and soot. Come on Toyota, a 310hp, 516lb-ft diesel with a 48V electric motor in place of the torque converter adding another 30-40hp and another 100lb-ft would be stellar. Charge $70K, I don’t care take my damn money.

A 2500 model since I am not entirely sure the next gen Tundra will meet my upcoming needs/wants. If a 1500 series like a Tundra will be able to meet those needs I would prefer a V8 would consider a V8 hybrid. I have towed with a twin turbo V6 before and it got a solid 6 mpg hand calculated the same load in my Tundra was right around 10. The load at the time was my 2000 Jeep Cherokee on a flatbed roughly 5-6k weight. The power of a twin turbo V6 is there but the efficiency so far no although unloaded that ecoboost got 2-3 mpg higher than my Tundra. The 6 mpg recorded was a decent day weather wise not much wind interference at all.

More payload would be nice this is the reason I am looking at a 2500 series truck for my next truck down the road.

I want to keep my 5.7 until it’s full electric and technology has advanced such that ICS no longer makes practical sense.

I would like a Lexus version of the Tundra...That runs on regular gas...I had a GX and it was a great vehicle. I don't want a Tundra with a eco boost ttv6... I want a VF8!!! A diesel would be fine as would a hydrogen fuel cell.
