I was wondering how the motivX oil funnel is holding up and if the threads are breaking down or if any cracks etc....?

I was thinking of buying one and appreciate any feedback you have

I love mine. I have the "bottom" for my son's Honda and an adapter for our Sienna, so I can use it on all our vehicles.

This is not 1970 using oil in a 1970 manufactured engine. You are using synthetic or a blend. It’s just silly to keep the 5k change as a norm. The car companies would not be suggesting higher mileage between changes if not possible or would damage things.

Welcome to the 2020s guys and gals!

I would agree if it was a US based car manufacturer.

Toyota has a reputation as a quality, customer based manufacturer.
The most popular car company in the US (in the world).
Many, many stories of 200K+ Toyotas running around. That's why I buy Toyotas.

How many people do you know that have had engines seize or had to drop in a new engine?

    Just saying... :crapstorm:

    Ha!

Not many but plenty Toyota owners have oil consumption issues and many mechs think LDI may have contributed to this.

That's awesome. Definitely builds confidence. I doubt I'll ever see a 10k oil change as I'll be doing the once a year change, and probably only average 5k a year.

    Thanks for posting results

I have a daily driver ‘15 highlander with 170,000 miles on it. Oil/filter changed every 10k since new with mobil 1 0w-20. Still running strong. No magnetic partials from the filter observed thus far.

2019 Tundra Limited with 43k. Oil changed every 10k, so 4 times so far, no issues there as well. M1 0W-20.

IMO it’s personal preference. I see nothing wrong with a person changing their oil sooner. I just went by what the owners manual suggests. YMMV

I change my own oil. Walmart, O'Reilly's, or the local landfill (coolant too!) all take used oil. I go Valvoline or Mobile 1.

My truck was always serviced at the dealer by the PO. I have a record of every last oil change for my truck's 57,000 miles. I had missing skid plate hardware.

I don't hit 10,000 in a year, so I'm on the 12-month plan. I do tow heavy a few times a year. Just did a 850 mile trip with my 30ft trailer to finish the season.

Considering 5w30 next change. But that is a different spirited debate.

The only thing I don’t like is that with a new truck you get 5 services. I just took mine in for a 5k service and the dealership literally did nothing (no oil change). The just out water in your washer fluid reservoir and deflate your tires. I didn’t rotate tires this time bc I’m changing them anyway.

but it’s any easy way to get out of 3 services.

I lean to the 10,000 OCI, but I would change it much earlier on a new engine. I'd probably go 2, 5, and 10k.

Yeah I’ve had this experience alot, like what did you do Toyota tech haha? I guess they want people to get into the habit of paying for useless 5k services once the free ones pass.

Dealers will not change every 5,000 mi. under ToyotaCare unless you have FlexFuel, only every 10,000. Psycho, I know, but was consistently told this after three dealer visits.

Just did my first oil change after exhausting 24-mo. ToyotaCare. Dealer did a great job with prior changes, but to, Toyota… eight quarts and an filter system you can’t preload with oil? Yowzah! Thinking about a converter to a “normal” filter I can prime with oil, but anybody been using Lucas oil stabilizer and have a performance history with it?

Check the build link in my signature.
Been past that point for a long time now… just turned 42k.
But the dealer I was using actually chafed changed it at the 5k marks. Just told them I was “severe duty” and they didn’t blink an eye.
Watched them do it in the service bay.
