With the Extreme-E series, the very first finish of the KoH EMC by an electric truck and now add the Lordstown San Felipe entry to the mix, it's getting huge, and I'm stoked.

We'll see how the lordstown does. I hate how the EMC truck is called a "finisher", all they did was the desert (easy) lap; the fact they push it as a finisher for doing literally half the course just so electrics seem... capable? Annoys me. That's not to take away from what they did, but I won't be impressed if the lordstown does 125 miles and is hailed as a big success either lol

Yeah, that annoyed me a bit too. We will see how it does. I'm stoked for it. Extreme E is really cool to see.

Also, my truck would probably be more haggard than that 4runner after 1 desert lap.

I've watched a couple of the electric open wheel (Indy/F1 style car) races. They sound weird as hell. lol

I don't recall, but they may do a battery change midway? Otherwise, pretty much just like watching any other "lower level" racing series.

Still, the power of electric vehicles is cool. Just gotta keep working on that range capability.

I'm curious to see how they handle the range of the vehicles too. Especially running them hard, the distance is beyond a single charge. Wonder if they will stop the clock during the changes / charging?

It was Formula E, I had to look it up. The Gen 1 car required a car swap (not battery swap) at mid race. The Gen 2 car can now go the entire race on a single charge. So progress is being made.

All the offroad cars I've seen and read about swapped batteries since they were lucky to get like 100 miles of range, more like 50, so they have to do multiple swaps just for a single lap. I think electric stuff is really cool, but sitting there with a 12kW diesel generator to charge your batteries kind of defeats the purpose imo; gotta start somewhere I suppose

It's a progression, just like most innovations. We're still in the early stages. Baby steps.
