So, ditch lights. I always think they look cool in pictures and on build threads. So I bought a set of Victory 4x4 ditch light brackets along with a pair of RIGID amber cube lights. The install was super easy on the brackets, 15 minutes...I have an Spod, so another 30 minutes hooking up the lights. I believe this is what everyone else’s lights look like...but on mine, to me, they just look like a couple of weird lights sitting on the hood??? They are cool...but I just don’t know. I have a C4 bumper on the way, so that may complete the look and function?!? What are your thoughts?

Are you 4x4'ing at night or need them for functionality? If so, they look great and will be helpful.

If you are using them to navigate to Costco after dark, take them off.

I think they look great on your truck. Beefy tires, nice wheels and tough fender flares makes them right at home. On my truck, they would look silly in my opinion, being that I’m on really street - looking tires, and stock height suspension etc.

I have them and I used to think the same as you but one error in judgement and about 2 hours offroading in the dark with shifty headlights later..... I now have them. The look isn't for everyone but I think most people have them for function. My wife hates mine btw says they look dumb.

To clarify...I live in a rural area, deer are plentiful and I can use these to light up off road areas that no one else is driving on. So it’s mostly a safety issue. I do enjoy trails and 4wheeling, so they will definitely be a good addition. For some reason they just look really odd to me on my truck! Guess it just takes time to get used too!

You could go to smaller ones maybe ? I wanted a super low profile so I went real small. Mine are Amazon but if you're a brand guy baja designs makes one a similar size20210411_154913.jpg

I think they’re really practical and have always loved the look. I use them off-roading on trails/ camping. But at the end of the day it’s your truck and what you think is all that matters. And nice! Have fun with all of the wiring. There’s a forum of us posting our experiences on installation so you can get some pointers.

I had some on my 4runner. Inner set spot pattern hitting right above my headlights. Outer set are the dulley side shooter that are flood with an extra set of leds on the outer edge. These lit up outside the headlights and made my angle of view closer to 170°.

Already have a winch and light bar wired, along with the ditch lights...so swapping over to the C4 bumper should be pretty easy...just gotta wait 8-10 weeks now! Lol

Old thread, but how is the light output on the rigid lights, did you keep them. I’m on the fence too. Stockish pro 35s and small lift. Much harder to see in dark turns to Costco

Is it legal to run these driving if they are labeled driving lights?

I run mine on dark highways when they're divided with a wide median. I scan the sides for eye glow and haven't been surprised by a deer yet. On my way out to the range at night it's super dark and there's plenty of deer out there that I've seen ahead of time.

My local law is lights must be no higher then 54" from the ground and must be pointed downwards. My Ditch lights on my 4runner are at that height and I've turned them on before on roads and the way I have them angled is to hit right above the headlight cut off. So legal and good if your driving a lonely highway. I wouldn't run them in traffic. Much the same as you would use your high beams.

It changes often but usually it's something like this. The Baja ones are the ones pointed above the headlights and they shine wide enough to illuminate the outside of the headlight reach as well. The dss rigids do not get turned on on public roads. They shine way to wide

Are those the squadron pro? Looks like you have extensive knowledge in lighting. Is there one you like that would be a dual purpose? Beam and diffuse for the sides? Or at least narrow my search? Lol

Get the spot squadron pros. Yeah those are them but not with the sae ones. I don't run them all the time so I wasn't concerned about them being traffic friendly. If your mounted them as Ditch lights I would stick to spot lenses. The flood and sae would have to wide of a beam to be able to use and not blind people in front of you or cross traffic. Spot has a smaller spread and it's easier to get the light exactly where you want it and not where you don't. Mine are mostly for up past my headlights if you're looking for something to illuminate around dark corners I would do sae in your fog position, that would allow the wide spread without fear of blinding people.

Great information! When you say fog position, do you mean mount them where the fog lights are or as ditch light mount in a forward fog position? Thank you for helping me out

In the regular fog position. The lower the better for wide spread lights on public roads.
