Well my first house has fallen through, issues with appraisal and the Sellers being Greedy pigs so decided to save our hard earned money and walk.

Currently in Round Rock though and checking out some houses today. Fingers crossed on this one up in Teravista.

Think we are about to get some Breakfast Tacos and maybe a Round Rock donut! Thanks for all the help everyone!

They’ll get what they’re asking. They’ll find a sucker. Glad you weren’t that sucker though.

I really hope those asshats don’t, but your probably right. Things have cooled off a lot since we were first looking though so that is nice.

ahhh, Austin. yes. Dirty's burgers on Guadalupe. Eeyore's birthday party. Music. Food. The people! I got stories! Don't forget, Texas is one of 36 states that does not forbid toplessness. Austin also doesn’t disallow it.

Won’t be long til it heats back up. We’ll be looking in the Bastrop area very, very soon. We’re going to sell our first so we can move on a place quickly. Contingency plans don’t hold ANY weight that way right now.

Had to make changes to my numbers.
Congratulations! TerraVista is just south of me on 1460/Grimes Blvd.
in Georgetown! Great location. Access to many things. Restaurants, shopping, I35, Toll road to the South, a few hours from the coast, great BBQ, LOWES and Home Depot on almost every corner. Close to the medical district. Dell Diamond for Baseball, Kalahari water park/motel, CVS and Walgreens on every corner, the hill country, museums, COTA racetrack - F1 and soon to be NASCAR TRACK. Tesla building a plant here, HUGE Amazon distribution center being built, Dell Computers, Samsung, Austin music and 6th Street. I don’t think there is anything that is not found here. Williamson County does have high property taxes though. But, no state income tax. But, if you are going to work in Austin , GET UP EARLY! The traffic on 35 to Austin is why I retired.
If TerraVista has Suddenlink for cable - it sucks! Oh it won’t just be A Round Rock Donut! It will be quite a few! They are awesome.

My son is a Home Inspector and my wife was doing his scheduling. The majority of the buyers were from out of state with CASH and very short closing times to get the property.

The house is in the Round Rock area of the development. Definitely excited!
We explored a lot today, Georgetown, and Lake Travis, and now back in downtown round rock.

we definitely fell victim to the Oasis Brewing company tourist trap!

Welcome to Texas. Lots of folks from California are moving here. Part of me worries things will change as a result.

So move is finally progressing, will be there in 2 weeks! So just started to look into electric providers and I don’t even know where to start! I like the idea of choices, but holy hell, nothing could have prepared me for this many choices haha. Any tips or suggestions when looking through these?

If you want to search, check out powertochoose.com. However, we usually stay with the main providers like TXU or Reliant.

I keep a spreadsheet for evaluating electric rates. Here is an example. You have to plug in your usage to really compare each plan:

I would definitely stick with one of the big providers (like Reliant) and stay away from anything like "Griddy." And Welcome!!!

I'm not sure - you just want to be careful with some of the energy providers. I wish I could find the article I read a while back about it -
I'm having a bad brain day but you want a power company that doesn't constantly swing with the wholesale energy prices. A ton of people got screwed in our big winter storm when the powers to be decided to do a supply/demand with energy prices (even though they created the supply issue by their lack of preparedness) and the wholesale prices went crazy. Those with the variable rates got huge bills...

Totally understand and agreed. Because of the storm I am aware enough now to stay far away from the wholesale resellers and anything resembling a variable rates.

    Thank you!
