6 inch lift, ADS suspension, Alcan custom rear springs, 46 gallon metal gas tank, Full Line-x body, Wheels with 35's, Smittybilt bumpers front and rear, 10k warn winch, custom rack.
I installed Alcan springs and shackles. Drove around the block and checked. Noticed I was hitting the spare tire support and the rear bumper support. Any ideas on why this is hitting? I confirmed with Alcan before I put the springs on the direction. Too bad they're closed today. I had thought about flipping the lower bolt, but it would still hit.20210409_201246.jpg 20210409_201323.jpg

Just providing an update. Alcan contacted me and we took some measurements. They're currently fixing the problem with them. Looks like the spring is about 2 inches too long. I will say that they have not disappointed. They have gone the extra mile to make sure to fix the problem and will be sending out some new stuff to fix it.

Update. The reason why my truck has been difficult is due to the 6 inch pro comp lift and deciding to remove the lift blocks and go with a 8 pack spring set. This was the first time Alcan had done one for this type of set up. But not to worry, this has gone down in their records and if anyone else has an order like this, they now have the blueprint.

I had the same problem and they also said that it was the first time that they did this. LOL, I had to add Coachbuilder +3 shackles to get my springs off the frame.

The longtime original owner of Alcan (BILL) sold the company last year. He was really knowledgeable, the new guy (who I will not name) was interesting to deal with. Truck rides great once I got it all ironed out though.

So.......noticed my alcan doing the same thing. Unfortunately for me, I’ve had these leads for over two years. I knew they were close, but didn’t know any better. Doubt they’ll do anything now. I got them from Bill 3334E412-475B-4809-923B-3C63E82A2CFC.jpg

It messed up my frame from how long it’s been there. The first pic was the drivers side. This is the passenger side.AC1E2907-84EC-4737-B48E-61CD36E25E6D.jpg

    You need longer shackles.

Your basically riding on the frame.

Ya. They are stock. But from seeing how everyone who does their leafs pictures look. The shackle should be vertical not all the way back like that. Mine seem to have the same issue of being too long.

The longer shackle will take up the extra length of the spring and tilt back a little like that. Not that much though.
Coachbuilder says he sees that all the time with aftermarket springs. It fixed my problem.

Do notice a ot of clanking noise from the rear?

Problem for me is the leafs were made to provide 2” of lift over stock. I didn’t realize it wasn’t good to put longer shackles cause then the ride height would be too tall for my shocks. So I kept the shackles stock. Honestly was going to switch over to Deaver U748s since I always have a RTT and bed rack and other gear on it 365 days a year. I’ve heard great things about them. We’ll see though.

You won't go wrong with Deaver. They know their stuff when it comes to offroad leaf or coils springs.

Update. Springs installed, they cut 2 inches off, and they're no longer hitting the supports or the frame.

Question about deaver if anyone knows. I have the back of my truck lifted 1.5 inches with the icon add a leaf. I want to replace the whole leaf pack and I’m considering deaver U748. My rear icon shocks allow for 1.5 inches of lift but I can probably get away with the U748s. The description on the deavers say I will need after market shackles like like total chaos or camburg, but won’t the shackles raise the rear even more past the 2 inches the deavers provide? I don’t want to go more than 2 inches of lift and want to replace my leaf springs. What options do I have?

I would talk to Deaver about that. Just call them and talk to them about what you want.

I have the Deaver U748 that I purchased with MCM shackles which are very similar to the Total chaos shackles. With both I gained 2" of lift. I believe if you used Stock shackles on the U748 you would run into the issues above since the U748 are longer than stock

Thanks. I’m going to take a look at the MCM and compare them to TC. Sounds like this setup would work if it’s only 2” total for you.

Call Jeff or Scott at Deaver. They're really easy to talk to and can have you set up in a matter of minutes. I've dealt with Matt at MCM too and he's a good guy. But, since TC is close to Deaver it's very convenient to pick everything up from Jeff.

How do you like the Alcans? I just got a quote from them. They seem to be recommended over OME and Icons. I talked to a guy named Lew. What's the difference between Alcan and Deavers?

After owning the Alcans for about a year, I wish that I had gone Deaver. Even with the added lift and shackles my truck still sags with even the lightest amount of weight in the bed.

And....After reading this thread I feel that my springs may be too long.

Lew worked with me on fixing the problem. The springs are just a couple inches too long. Lew sent me new ones and I installed with no problems. I have put about a half a ton of rock in the truck a couple times and it's fine. Off road the ride is very smooth in the rear. I have ADS shocks and that combo is great. My first route was to go with Deaver but due to them being so backed up at the time I went with Alcan. Other than the mess up, I have no issues. Now if this was my only ride and this happened, I would have been very pissed, that I would have to put it all back together and wait. Lucky for me this is my toy truck, not my daily.

I just ordered Alcans from him last week. I'm hoping they won't be too long. I will be using them with my Toytec shackles at 1.5. He is aware of that. How would I know if they are too long?

How long are the correct springs? I'd like to measure mine.

I don't remember off hand, but I'll check it when I get home. I'll also measure the long ones. I still have them. One thing to remember is I got the 8 pack so I didn't need the lift blocks anymore.

So I have the Toytecs at 1.5 and I am going with the 8 pack Alcan springs at 1/2 of lift. With the 2 inches of lift and aftermarket rear bumper at 140 lbs, do you think I should get the Timbrens for bump stops? And what size? Mostly daily driving and we own a 3800 lb travel trailer.

I would wait until you install the Alcans, cycle the suspension to see the amount of travel, then get the right size bump stops.
