Wow, good lead, this is promising. I may risk this as the answer:

"It's only moderately louder than running the kitchen sink."

It's not so much that we care if it's ground the night before or that morning taste-wise, it's the fact that my kids put up massive fights at bedtime and we're lucky if we remember to get the dishwasher started, much less the coffee ground for the next morning.

It is super quiet, one of the things they are made/known for. I can’t say if it’s quieter then the water in the sink but I’d bet it would be very close.

And I'm so sorry to ask, trying to read up on it, but think this one can do medium fine for cone pour over? Can't seem to locate that specific question answered anywhere yet...

It can do pour overs no prob. Eureka does make a silent version for espresso or pour over, or both.

I enjoyed the coffee. At this time I think I'm done with these fancy machines. It's not worth having one if you can't get good service locally. I'll probably just get a cheap stove top espresso pot like a Moka. There's nothing to really go wrong with and I don't have to deal with bad customer service.

I have the Mazzer for espresso but an Baratza Virtuoso for drip coffee and find it more than adequate. Neither imo are that loud, not like the espresso machine it self which has a very loud pump.

I looked at the Eureka in detail and it seems awesome design wise, except for the bin for the grounds. That’s one chief complaint about the Baratza, we have a rubber band to hold it in place.

Price-wise the more budget friendly $200 brew focused model seems more palatable but I wonder how noisy it is.

I got tired of waiting for Clive Coffee to send me the SSR for my Pro 500 so I drove the one hour trip there. It took me another hour to drive back. Anyway I replaced it and it worked. I ran two double shots through it and the second was better than the first. I was reminded how good this machine makes espresso.
I relocated the SSR toward the back of the machine in a cooler place, basically as far as the wires would go. I'll see how long this works.

Lol, still pulling shots! It’s funny you posted because I just received this new machine on the 7th of September. Now I have to learn everything all over again, lol. But I’m just going to take my time. The shots so far today have been great and I’d expect after learning the machine they will be better than ever!6F2E4F06-2E1B-4F2C-B917-BE6E84BA1427.jpg

Yes it does. It is in no way a conventional machine. That’s what makes it cool and uncool at the same time. It can mimic profiles from most other machines making it super versatile. But also confusing. So far I’m having fun learning it.

I have one of the mid-level De'longhi units. I'm in line for a ride at Disneyland right now so I can't check the exact model. I've had it about 5 years with zero issues. I only run distilled water through it. It doesn't grind, but it makes single and double shots of espresso and steams milk very well. It doesn't have a ton of fancy options, so I had to learn about appropriate temps, draw lengths, tamp pressure, etc. I'd buy this machine again in a heartbeat.

The best espresso blend on the planet is Quills Coffee Blacksmith. I have a bag sent on subscription every month.

The Profitec was/is a awesome machine. If I were to buy an E61 machine again I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one. My sister wanted my Profitec and now she has it, lol.

The new machine is a Decent DE1 Pro. I love it so far!

Awesome. I know the profitec is highly rated. Never seen the decent before.. My salvatore is down for now. I haven't ever given it a great group head cleanse in the last 10 years and unfortunately the screw in the screen stripped and broke off in the group head. Now I'm faced with either getting a new group head or possibly changing out the machine. I really like the bezzera matrix de but don't really wanna spend that coin right now o_O

I use a Breville Barista Express which has been great, but the built in grinder leaves a bit to be desired. Any recommendations on something that will make it more consistent, or should I get a separate grinder?

I think that machine has a small conical grinder. Conical sre good for darker roast coffees but the built in grinders can be finicky. I’d recommend a Eureka 55mm flat burr grinder as a first separate grinder. Some people may recommend a high end hand grinder, which are nice but not convenient. Another highly recommended grinder is the Niche. It’s a fantastic inexpensive conical that most people love. Not great for light roasts, but really good for everything else.

I was trying to clean out the group head on my machine amd change out gaskets but stripped the screw that holds the screen filter in place. Gotta say im not a fan of group heads like this.

BTW, if you are looking for equipment, lots to be had on Home Barista forum. Not to recommend another forum then ours, but it is a specialty forum for espresso. Moderator please remove if I’m out of bounds.

I did look locally and there are a few but I just reached out to the company, Salvatore, and he said I can send him the group head. I may have mentioned this already but Salvatore hand builds these machines and he is a master of his trade. It was a PITA getting the group head out - I really didn't have the right tools. This was on top of me having a bad oil spill on the drive way this morning when changing the wifes car. Not how I wanted my Saturday to go. At any rate if this doesn't get fixed, that Bezzera Matrix might be in my future. I've already been without my espresso machine for about a week now, going through withdrawals isn't fun :burp:

Gotcha, I do know the Salvatore machines. Prob very much worth fixing it. Take a look at the Decent website and YouTube for their stuff. The price diff between a new double boiler and a decent isn’t much. Decent can make coffee like any lever, E61, Slayer etc. Don’t remember where you are located, but any of our brethren are welcome to come by and try it.

Salvatore told me a new group head was needed. I kind of got sticker shock at the price for the new part and am probably just going to get a new machine for now and probably fix the salvatore later. After doing a ton of research I'm probably going with the ECM Synchronika. That Decent is really cool but I'm looking to stay traditional in my set up. I wanted the Bezzera Duo at first, then was looking at the Quik Mill Vetrano, but after speaking with a guy in the trade he told me ECM/Profitec is the way to go.

Great choice! My 700 i was using is the same machine, except the syncronica has a better finish. You will love it.

check out Home-barista forum for a used one, you can find a great deal. Most users there take very good care of their equipment.
