Any problems since you added the Ravenol?

I have had the ravenol in my truck for over 8 months and a little over 6500 miles with no issue. Transfer case seems to shift smoother and quicker now as well.

At 1/4 the price, I hope it is a suitable substitute. I was not willing to gamble.

The Toyota 75W transfer case fluid can also be identified by more than one-part number. As many know Toyota has several divisions that operate in a variety of regions worldwide to support their automotive network. These different Toyota transfer case fluid part numbers are dependent on the regional location or country.

Toyota Tundra 4WD models requiring 75W transfer case fluid part number 08885-81080 and 08885-81081. These transfer case fluid applications apply to models available in America only.

Ravenol MTF-3 75W is a replacement for both Toyota transfer case fluid part numbers 08885-81080 and 08885-81081 for the following Toyota Tundra 4WD model fitments.

    • 2013-2020 Toyota Tundra 4WD 5.7L V8 gasoline models use 08885-81080 or 08885-81081 transfer case fluid.

Have 38k on the ravenol in my transfer case and use 4x4 pretty regularly, shifts great and has held up well. Probably gonna change it out at 50k to see how it looks and send off a sample to blackstone labs.

I also went with Ravenol for what it's worth. Changed it 2 months ago, probably put 1000 miles on it. Seems fine, to me it shifts the same, and haven't had any issues. I just couldn't justify what Toyota wants for their 75W.

Wheels/Tires and a B.S. "lift" as of 3/5/21. More to come because I can't not F with nice things
Just jumping in here. Never in my life would i have though t-case fluid in a damn toyota would be this difficult but..... Let's sum this up for people jumping into this mess. i see 4 options

    1- Toyota 75W
    2- Ravenol 75W
    3- Redline MT-LV 70W/75W
4- Screw it all and run simple, over the counter, whatever flavor you want, 75W90

Why is only one dude talking about Redline? it is legit company and OEM compatible... what am i missing??? i am leaning towards redline as of now. Updated thoughts?

Redline is a boutique oil company like amsoil and Royal purple. It has a near cult following.
I asked Amsoil about reverse engineering a 75w gear oil. They did this with Transyd.
I was told there isn't enough Tundra owners to bother making an equivalent.

Sooooo just because they are a boutique lubricant, we discredit them or is there a good reason (that we are aware of) not to run the redline version of this 75W? i would honestly say Amsoil and Lucus are just as "boutique" as well but this doesn't mean their applicable shit isn't sufficient...IMO

    Nice list!
I have a couple of quarts of the Redline option sitting on my shelf ready. I've read some good stuff about Redline and their gear oils (Bob is the oil guy). I would have done Amsoil if there was an option. I know this is a slippery slope, just like the quick summary list of the 4 options posted, well put!

As long as you change it, I think you're winning and taking care of your truck.

The OP asked about Redline oils. Redline makes good products. I use Amsoil for transmissions and grease. I bought 2 qts of the Toyota LF 75. It must have Unicorn tears at $80 a qt. No barb was intended.

No worries and i agree. there is no reason it should cost that. Hence why we are all here discussing this i'd imagine.

As far as redline being originally mentioned, i agree it was but was ruled out back in 2017 here because they had no recommendations from what i read. but now they list the Redline MT-LV 70W/75W and it is OEM compatible per their site so i assume this info has changed and is now, an additional, cheaper option. unless i am misunderstanding. that was more my question i guess. does anyone know or have experience with running Redline MT-LV 70W/75W as a good alternative?

Just wanted to add what Toyota corp emailed me about using 75w90 in the tc and is safe. I felt comfortable using 75w90 in my 4runner and GX460 and will do the same in my tundra.

Anyone who says your tc will get damaged with 75w90 is full of it.
