Wasn't hard, all the information is pretty much on this thread and the one regarding tow mirrors, also referenced here. Patience/beer helped. Got frustrated fishing wires but I took my time and it went decently well, somewhat time consuming. It probably took me 3 hours to do the whole install, 30 min of that was making sure I had the right brown wire to my cargo lights.

Theyre bright, they light up the whole side of the truck...here's a off/on comparison

Are these lights manually switch operated or do they splice to the door push switch?

Our Sequoia didn't come with puddle lights, but they were spliced into the door push switch.

Awesome stuff. I’ve been wanting some of these for a bit now. I guess it’s high time to follow through.

No fuse was added. Still work great! Have had a kid since install and they're a big help at night getting the car seat in and out.

You tap into the cargo light circuit. The lights can be turned on/off/auto using the cargo switch on the dash.

Can you tie the power source on both sides to already installed VLED footwell lights?

I did, check the plug ends on your footwell kit. The newer ones with the round style 2 pin plug will be PnP

that’s probably the most convenient way to do it, but keep in mind they will not come on with the key fob. Which was a deal breaker for me, so I moved mine to the cargo light circuit.

Really? Mine do. If I unlock with the fob or approach the truck with the key in my pocket they come on with the interior lights

Really? That’s awesome! Mine definitely didn’t work with the fob, they only would come on when any door(s) open. Maybe because I have a 2018?

Do you fellas also have push button start? I just realized you mentioned they’ll come on as you approach the truck with the key in your pocket.

Same for my 2014 SR5 custom puddle lights that I tapped into the footwell light.
Unlock doors with the key fob, puddle lights dim up.
Get in the truck and close the door, they time out and dim off.
Open the door to get out, dim on, close and lock the door with key fob, they dim out..

VLEDs are the way to go.

I first used some other LEDs and they were OK, but the VLEDs are better.

The vled puddle lights are great, I’m so happy I installed them. I wish I could have left mine on with my footwell light. Strange that my footwell lights aren’t switched the same as yours. Must be different from year to year and with different models.

My 18 Limited footwell lights come on when I hit the key fob. Debating on the puddle lights.

It was a fair amount of work (mostly snaking the wire through the door grommet). But I’m so glad to have them. It’s convenient for the kids too so they can easily see the running boards. And if I’m working around the truck I can just leave them on for nice perimeter lighting. The Vleds are very bright.

And that's the part I dread the most. I just put in the footwell lights, but running the wire through the door grommet looks like a pain.

You can pull one end off the grommet, I pulled the one to the body, and put it back in when you're done.
Pull the end off, try to compress it, and shove a long stiff ziptie thru it.
I used an HVAC zip tie.
Once you get the ziptie thru, securely tape your wire to it and pull it back thru..

I would go in from the truck under the dash to the door, then pull the wire back from the door to the under the dash.
Going from the door to the dash is harder..

Also you can use the 3 foot HVAC zip tie to pull the wire from the passenger side to the drivers side in the dash.
Run it thru from the driver's side, secure the wire, and pull it back thru.
It might take a little bit of poking here and there to get it thru...

These are nice to have around, I use them for different stuff all the time..

I also put connectors inline at the mirror plug in case I, or anyone, ever have to pull the mirror off..
One connector for the puddle light and one for my Muth signal mirrors

A somewhat related question, are the puddle lights on Tundra mirrors that come with them standard (ie. Platinum, 1794 Edition) plug-n-play with lower trim levels that have the wiring harness but no puddle lights (ie. Limited Edition)?

@Pot Hole My SR5 didn't have any wires to connect to. Needed to run new wires to make them work. Hope that helps answer your question

My Limited has a wiring harness coming from the cab that plugs into my mirror with a bunch of wires in it. The mirrors I have are heated so there are two wires running to the heating element and some to activate the mirror adjustment motor, however, I'm trying to figure out what all the other wires in the harness connect to. If two of them are for puddle lights, I could switch mine out for Platinum or 1794 mirrors and not have to run wiring back to the cab (which is a bit of a pain)
