I had the opportunity to jump in on this GB from @james@tech12volts. At $200, for a complete plug & play how can you not? Out here, in CO this would make it convenient for the truck to warm up before hitting the snow, or for it to cool down on our blistering days (right now its 96* outside)

This setup was described as complete plug & play. If you're paranoid like me, and not fantastic with electrical then it does not get any easier than this! James provided a video (link here along with instructions via e-mail.)

    It was pretty straight forward:

    upload_2019-9-1_14-0-34.jpg

    Step 1:
Disconnect battery and then remove the plastic sill on drivers side

    upload_2019-9-1_14-0-50.jpg

    Step 2:
Remove panel under steering column. 10mm bolt on each side.
    upload_2019-9-1_14-2-20.jpg
    upload_2019-9-1_14-3-53.jpg

    Step 3:
Gently pull down on the panel after you have removed the two (2) 10mm bolts until it pops loose.
    upload_2019-9-1_14-5-51.jpg

    Step 4:
Remove both Philips screws with a screwdriver on each side of the steering wheel. It's best to start your truck so the wheel can easily turn from left, to right.

    upload_2019-9-1_14-10-2.jpg

    Step 5:
Gently pull down the steering column at the seam.
    upload_2019-9-1_14-11-18.jpg

    Step 6:
    Unplug factory ignition harness:
    upload_2019-9-1_14-14-19.jpg

    Step 7:
Plug the male part ignition of the remote start unit into the female factory harness. Then plug the female part of the harness, into the male ignition plug.
    upload_2019-9-1_14-16-23.jpg
    upload_2019-9-1_14-19-40.jpg

    Step 8:
Remove the OBD II connector from the mount. This is located under the panel, on the left hand side. It pops out rather easily with a flat head to press the release.
    upload_2019-9-1_14-20-34.jpg

    Step 9:
Replace it with the male 26 pin plug from the remote start harness. (Factory plug pictured first) Then connect the open two together.
    upload_2019-9-1_14-23-50.jpg
    upload_2019-9-1_14-24-57.jpg

    Step 10:
Remove the 10mm ground screw, and add the black ground wire to it that is supplied in the kit.
    Ground.jpg

    Step 11:
Remove the bottom panel of the passenger side dash. I used plastic to pop them off. It doesn't take any force for the clips to release.
    upload_2019-9-1_14-28-39.jpg
    upload_2019-9-1_14-28-46.jpg

    Step 12:
Unplug the factory TPMS connection. (follow the yellow tube; the connection is up, at an angle and comes out easily)
    upload_2019-9-1_14-30-36.jpg

    Step 13:
Take a long zip tie (or wire hanger) and feed the TPMS connection that came with the kit, behind the center console and to the passenger side.
    TPMS4.jpg

    Step 14:
Plug the TPMS connector from the harness into the TPMS female connection. Then, plug the female part of the harness into the the factory TPMS connection.
    upload_2019-9-1_14-34-7.jpg

    Step 15:
Reconnect battery (no photos required here)

    Step 16:
Go back to drivers side. Take the module that came with the kit. Press and hold the programming button, and connect the remaining plug into module until you see both red and blue on at the same time.

    Step 17:
When BOTH red and blue are lit, release and plug in the remaining small harnesses into the module.

    Step 18:
Press the program button two (2) times at a normal pace.

    Step 19:
Turn the key to accessory mode. (should flash rapidly 10 times on control box) It should then flash a steady blue. After a few seconds of it flashing blue, turn off ignition.

    Step 20:
Close the doors. Press the lock button on the factory fob three (3) times at a normal pace. After you hit the lock command three times, it should start right up!

Nice write up! Interesting that your TPMS is on the passenger side...also for my 2019, I did not pull down the dash under the steering wheel column. Just the panel on the left side :)

Nice work Sean. I know how you love tackling wiring projects lol. I'm very proud of you buddy! This looks like a really nice remote start set up, a plug and play set up is pretty freakin sweet. James comes through again with an affordable yet useful mod.

Great write up. I tried to PM you this.

    Step 8, just remember that.

If you bring your Tundra in for service ( I brought mine in for the TSS sensor recall/update) the Toyota laptop used to do this couldn't find my computer/Tundra. They tried 3 different computers until 1 very smart Toyota Tech realized the remote start. He unplugged step 8 and plugged it into that.

The Toyota computer is very sensitive and needs to be directly into the OBD II port. Very simple, once done plug the mod back together and your good to go.

**Just wanted to post this so if anyone has any problems you don't want them tearing apart your truck.

Will this remote start allow you after driving to leave the engine running and lock/unlock the doors with the FOB ?

I have had this with the last 5 trucks I’ve owned. GMs do it from the factory. No problems man. It’s just nice to leave the truck running for the pup when you go into a gas station and lock/unlock it while running.

Quick question would the paid subscription be required for the mycar app? don’t really care for the gps feature just want the ability to unlock and remote start with the phone

This remote start does allow for leaving the truck running with key out of the ignition. You'll have to look it up in the owner's manual for the button combination. And the group buy is still on.

So I have never been part of a group buy, was wondering if there is one soon or how does it work? Would love to get this remote start for my truck, especially now when it’s freezing out!!

I can vouch for the stellar customer service on this group buy. I bought my 2018 CM used and had already joined the group buy before realizing the previous owner had already installed this very system. I reached out and explained the issue and was refunded right away. I will be doing business with the seller in the future and you should join with confidence.

Great write-up, what I've heard this is the best remote starter out there for Tundras. Looking forward to installing mine this fall to combat the NH winters...
