    Greetings all -

My 1st gen is nearing 150k and I purchased used at a little of 90k, so not sure if I have been lucky or if the timing belt has been done. That said, either way I think it would be safe insurance to just get it done now. After reading some threads on the 1st gen forum, I ordered an Aisin kit TKT-021 from Amazon, along with the serpentine belt, thermostat, gaskets etc. I could likely pull off the work myself with enough study, patience and time. However, was hoping to find someone to just quote me the labor. No dice so far. Anyone in the Phoenix area know a mechanic that would not mind using my parts?

Conner Acuna at Acuna Automotive in Mesa. I'm a A&P mechanic for a major airline here in PHX and both his brothers are inspectors for us. All of them are very detailed workers who are all heavy into offroad life. Conner is amazing and extremely fair with his prices. Plus he will just tell you the price and not go into some bulls&%t about how your timing belt effects your taillights so you should change those too. He did my 1st Gen 10 years ago and will also do the waterpump. You don't do the timing belt and not the waterpump. Check his reviews on both Yelp and Google and you will see what I'm saying.
