bought a used 2001 tundra found it locks in 4x4 due to the axle ratios being different , rear apears to be 4.5 to and front seems to be 3.73 i know it is suppose to have 3.9 by the vin so asking if it is possible to have a 3.73 on the front , i ask this as as far as the info i found it shoudl not come with 3.73 in 4x4 module .

When you say, "appears to be", what are you using to determine the ratios? 3.91 gears were stock for the 4wd models.

used this method Turn the wheel TWO revolutions and count the number of driveshaft turns. The number of driveshaft rotations will determine your rear axle ratio.

Doesn't work great without a locker or LSD.

The spider gears will let it spin in opposite directions and screw up your 'count'.

Best bet is to calculate tire size x trans o/d x engine rpm (via obd2) at 65mph.

You can do two things to confirm. One, you go here https://www.toyodiy.com/parts/ and click "select your car" then type in the VIN. Go to Powertrain and then Rear Axle Housing and DIff. You can find a ton of info about your truck.
Two, call the dealer and give them your VIN and ask about the gear ratio.

Did contact dealer it's supposed to have 3.91 in it the issue is that the rear axle has been changed and the front does not appear to be 3.91 , my questions did this series ever come with 3.73 in the front axle.

I believe that's what the OP thinks is happening. Like someone regeared one diff, and not the other.

Interesting, I heard bad things can happen with different gear ratio's. I would go by the dealers information or maybe take it to your local gear shop and have them confirm.

The rear should have been a 3.909....from the 2001 factory brochure...You didn't say if you had a V8/V6 but it sounds like you have a V8/V6 and someone swapped in a V6/V8 diff in the rear is the most likely scenario...
