I'm going to replace tensioner assembly, idler, and serpentine this weekend. Quick question... looking at the 4 fasteners for the tensioner assembly: Will I need to pull the alternator to remove the tensioner assembly? It looks like they share one of the same attachment bolts. Thanks.

I can’t remember, but the New Tensioner is a New Style with only 3 Bolts instead of 4.

I *think* the pass side TB cover wraps into and locks at the Tensioner so that has the be removed. The Alternator is not part of any equation here iirc. Lots of Hand Jujitsu working around the Fan if not removed.

The new tensioner looks just like the old one on mine. Has a 4-bolt attachment... actually two nuts on top toward driver's side and two bolts (more easily accessed from below) on the pass side. One of the two bolts, it appears, is shared with the alternator. No?

Sorry, I don't play patty-cake when working on stuff. More of a hand-to-hand combat approach. If that doesn't work I shoot it.

:amen::yes: you'd fit in with the locals here. If you're ever down this way stop in, and I'll buy you a beer in the nearest wet city.

Looks free and clear of Alternator. Mammaries look confirmed with Cover Connection going over Tensioner.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but IIR the Tensioner sits behind the Alternator...

    See photo

    It's just a couple more 14MM nuts/bolts

When I was going to do this a few years ago, the video I watched said you have to unbolt and swing the alternator out of the way in order to install the new tensioner. I opted to just hold off. Still have the part sitting around. Maybe use this opportunity to replace your alternator if it's original? :spending:

This isn't the video I remember, but it might help. Fast forward to around 30 minutes.

Thank you gentlemen. I'm gonna tear into it on Easter bunny Sunday. I'll report back.
I'll try to pull up some vids first and definitely watch the one linked above. I like the idea of swinging the alternator out of the way if that's an option... I think that might be the ticket.
    There will be blood.
