I have a 2002 Toyota tundra sr5 with the 4.7 v8. When you first turn it over it dont wanna start. And sometimes it turns over for about 10 seconds before it starts. I am thinking plugs and/or coil packs. Anyone have any other ideas?

Air, spark and fuel. Those three things are necessary for the truck to run. Check your fuel delivery. Fuel filter, fuel pump and fuel injectors. Clean the MAF and the throttle body and make sure the air filter is in good shape. And proceed with your spark plugs and coil pack inspection. Start with the easy, free stuff, like cleaning and inspecting before moving on to spending money on new parts.

186000 miles. But I have only owned the truck for approximately 7000 miles. Thanks KnaBores. I will check it out.

Mine was kind of doing something similar. Cleaned the throttle body and it cleared it right up.

If you pull the plugs and you don’t know the last time they were changed, replace them, they are cheap enough.

Might not make it that far if those coils are glitchy. Report back about their performance and good luck sir.

I’ll use a phrase here I use a lot but not because its your name although it works about those $150 coils.... Scary Larry!

I only say this from reading the Denso 1303 Coil Pack reviews on a site. Mostly they were Land Cruiser Guys with the same 4.7L engine we have except they got theirs in 1997 so we can see how time effects the same engine.

Mostly, they needed new coils and bought 8 chinesiums for about the same price you mention of $150. They performed poorly and often failed. Go read for yourself as I have nothing to gain here. The other option is to spend $180 a pop at Toy stealership for the same Spec’d Denso for about $55.

That Made in Japan gives confidence. Glad the are working for you. A few LC Guys reviews seemed solid. One guy did a multiple over time come back review which I like. Think he had 2 years on them.
