I want to remove my rear flares and hopefully not screw up many clips in the process. I have the forked panel removal tool. I'm assuming the flare unbolts at the bottom of the wheel opening and then I use the panel removal tool to pull it straight out?

What about a source for the spare clips I'll need to put the flare back on?

Any sources of suggestions for the rubber edge trim stuff that will likely half fall off on the edge of the flare?

My plan is to cut the flare back like I did to my fronts. The metal behind would also be cut. I want to use my 1.5" spacers so the rear will be a little closer to the front width. If I do that now my tire eats my flare. The picture should show what I'm trying to accomplish. Just make the rear match the cutting on the front.

    Thanks!IMG_20191221_120854.jpg

You might have a combination of all of these. Also, iirc you can buy them in bulk aftermarket but not sure where to source them.

@KarmaKannon how did you do the front bumper like that? Almost looks like its cut in 1/2 long ways.

Yep it's just cut. You also have to remove the metal bumper behind the plastic and then mount the fender sides with a bolt and spacer.

I was about to say this. @KarmaKannon probably just best to order some that PHM linked. That plastic is going to be so brittle at this point.

I see. I may have to try that. Looks killer and the bottom half of my front bumper has many love taps. I just got around to reading your build thread. Sweet build man. Love to see that kind of effort put in.

Can you post a link for the build page?.... Some people aren't sure how to find it in the long list of postings... @KarmaKannon

I've removed the flares on all the first gens I've had except the current one. You're right there are bolts inside the wheel well and then it's all just tabs. Every time some tabs break and some don't. Sometimes even the plastic on the inside of the flare that holds the clip breaks too but can be fabbed to hold a clip again easy enough. And the weather stripping will separate. I've always just left them off but I wasn't cutting metal so wasn't concerned about putting back on. Doesn't answer your question but hopefully helps with what will happen when they come off. By the way, do you know Dallin?

I left the weatherstripping off on the front and it seems fine but I'd rather have it on if possible. Dallin who? I've probably known someone by that name haha.

I removed mine a couple of weeks ago to replace the fender liner that goes underneath them and they all broke. It wasn’t too cold outside but they were old and brittle. I bought a universal automotive body clip assortment on Amazon and found some that fit it.

What did you do to repair the tabs on the flare side? I’ve got a couple that ripped/torn that I need to repair.
