I've always had good luck with the Super Duty with the tried and true 6 speed heavy duty automatic. Heard lots of troubling stories about the new 10 speed.

I put about 50k miles on my '15 F-350 and had some electrical gremlins with the AdvanceTrac computer. 22k so far on my '19 F-350 and that one hasn't had any issues, it's been a great if often uncomfortable truck.

That being said, every single person I know that has an EcoBoost F-150 has had nothing but horror stories about those things.

True. I owned a 2004 F150 with the 4.6L, bought new with 2 miles on it. It is the *ONE* Ford vehicle that I had almost no issues with, aside from the driver's side mirror and some other minor stuff (emergency brake). I gave it to my Mom with 220K miles on it; it's now got 280K and is still going strong. (It rattles like you would not believe, though.)

Its not that Toyota is without problems. There were shift mapping issues and rear diffs howling with the 3rd gen Taco. We see cam towers weeping and needle bearing failures with the long-running Tundra platform, etc.

But on the whole, new gen Toyotas just don’t have the problems that new gen Fords do. Think of all the generations of 4Runners, Land Cruisers, Rav4s, Priuses, Camrys, etc. Where is the data to support your claim that a new gen Toyota model is just as problem-riddled as a new-gen Ford? There is none.

    And 154k miles is nothing.

My 1997 with the 4.6 was a great truck even though it was first year of model change. I did get tired of my Chevy owning buddy calling it a Mustang with a bed. On the other hand my 2001 SC with the 5.4 was the biggest piece of shit I have ever owned.

ROFL - I had a friend with that same truck and he also hated it.

I owned a 2013 F150, and honestly, it wasn't terrible in that it never left me stranded...but it had lots of little (and not so little) issues, and *le shrug* isn't acceptable from the dealer. I mean, when the rear driver's side door won't latch, and you own a SuperCab, it's a big deal because the rear door *is* the pillar onto which the front door latches.

IMO it’s not that the domestics can’t build quality vehicles. Some people get great service from them. Many do not. It’s a bit of a crap shoot when you buy Ford, GM, or Ram. The reason is simple: QDR is not a high priority for them. For Toyota QDR is job #1. It’s not that you can’t buy a bad Toyota of any model, it’s just not very likely.

One thing I forgot to mention on my F150... the leaf spring would squeak, so the mechanic told me to spray them with chain lube once in a while. WTF??

Tacomas also have squeaky springs. Just look on the Tacoma forum for confirmation.

There is a reason I am in a Tundra and truth be told I could afford any truck on the planet....... better things in my life than chase rattles and drop off at dealer for recalls and warranty work

1986 Ford F150 - Not a bad truck. Had 302 V8 and I sold it for what I paid for it.
1989 Ford F150 - Ordered new from the factory. Piece of JUNK. Had 302 V8 and used oil from day one.
1989 Chevy 1500 - Good truck that I actually wish I still had today. Most of these are selling for top dollar if you can find nice ones.
2002 Dodge 2500 Van - Only had a few problems with this Dodge. Had 360 V8. Just drank gas like crazy.
2002 Dodge 2500 Diesel - Engine was bullet proof but had LOTS of fuel related issues sold at 100K miles.
2007 Nissan Titan - JUNK from day one. Was at the dealer more that not.
2007 Chevy 2500 Diesel - Decent truck. Did have to replace torque converter at 100K. OUCH!! Sold at 250K since no longer towed a lot.
2017 Toyota Tundra - So far I have 112K on the truck and only had to replace normal wear items (tires, oil, battery, etc.).

Of the trucks I have owned the older Chevy's were pretty good and I have had really good service out of my Tundra. I think the Tundra will easily give me 250K or more of service.

Someone said in another post that ... "FORDS SUCK" ... I tend to agree.

Would not buy anything new from the Big Three.

That and, imo, they aren't concerned with correcting design flaws in their following models cause they would rather push out their next completely new platform every 4-5 years. Its the same marketing principle lot of luxury car manufacturers. They build them mainly for those who always buy new and upgrade every couple years. After that its the used car markets for those vehicles and those customers aren't their demographic.

Traded my 17 Tundra for a 20 F350 with the 7.3 back in November. At about 5K miles so far. Really like the truck. I've owned mainly Japanese cars, several toyotas, several subarus, a honda. 1 chevy half ton ect.. The 2 worse so far for me was a Kia sorento (wife's car) that we had for only a few years that cost thousands in repairs, just terrible build quality. An the Chevy half ton (07).. Constantly in the shop, had less that 55k when I traded it just to get away from it.. This is my first Ford. The end of the day I wanted payload and towing capacity that sorry to say, as great as Tundras are, they are made for hauling pillows...I won't argue their reliability. Every toyota I've had or still have has been great.. I wish they made a HD version.. So I went with a Ford based on my 1 poor experience with Chevy. Never wanted a Dodge.. just never interested me ... Time will tell on how the F350 holds up.Its a roll of the dice, I don't care what brand. but been interesting watching this thread. Good for a few chuckles.

I have owned a few new fords and GM products over the years and not been impressed with many of them. Bought the wife an Accord in 05, bullet proof until the daughter started rubbing it up to other cars on the road. We grabbed a 13 and it's as tough as the 05. I will be the owner of a new 2021 crew max in a day or two. It will replace my 06 GMC , that has Great for 15 years. Will it stand the test of time, we will see.

Here is the day I brought it home. Just a basic STX package no extra frills. How I like it. Ride is surprisingly good on an average road. It does get a bit harsh on bad roads..I expected harsh all the time in a 1 ton. The truck does feel bigger, when in tight areas or tight parking it kinda feels like the titanic compared to the Tundra. I figure it to be about 20" longer. The interior is comfy, being mine is more of a base model I have the jump seat up front which is great for the dogs..or extra passenger. I have vinyl floors which I actually didn't mind. So easy to clean an not worry about spills and dirt just wipes off. I do like that it has an electronic locking rear diff, something I always felt the Tundra should have, mine has the dual battery dual altanator option which is great if I add accessories or a plow or whatever later on... Fuel economy is basically a wash from the Tundra, it's more or less the same I've seen about 15mpg an as low as 13 in winter with the warm ups ect.. It took some getting used to the feel of a 10 speed. But I can blast down the highway at 85 at only 2k rpm which is nice.I like the power of the 7.3, my first impression was not blown away, but after break in an getting used to it an how it wants to play it has plenty of get up an go when you want it..... I hemmed and hawed about going Diesel, at the end of the day I decided I preferred the simplicity of gas... I have yet to tow with it, I should be pretty soon as camping season comes around here. I'll have to report back. But it was nice to throw a chit ton of wood in the bed an have virtually no sag.. it's got 4208Lb payload. Not that I'll likely ever need it but I like that I can pretty much put whatever I want back there an never worry about it..Thus far I have no regrets. I opted for the extended added warranty because we'll it is a Ford after all. .

After 3 decades of Toyota trucks I opted to sell my Tundra and purchase a 2020 F250 6.7 Power Stroke Lariat Ultimate with Tremor package, camper package and high capacity tow pkg. This is primarily used for towing our 2020 Oliver Travel Trailer. I had a great run with my Tundra, however our 14 Tundra lacked in many modern upgrades and was just ok as far as towing and cargo capacity. Reliability on the Tundra was stellar, we just got a little tired waiting on Toyota to refresh the Tundra as I think everyone agrees it’s over due. And doing away with the 5.7 is pretty disappointing for 2022. I will always be a Toyota Tundra fan, for now our needs changed.
My wife and I are retired and we needed a TV that had more cargo room, plenty of hp and torque and after test driving the Tremor we decided to purchase it. We purchased it Sept 1, and only have 5500 miles on it so far and zero issues. It’s extremely quiet and comfortable in the cab and so far the 10 speed and 475 hp PS engine is extremely smooth. We have the 100,000 power stoke warranty and our dealer provided a 100,000 power train warranty. My mpgs average between 19-21 Highway naturally not towing. No need to delete and toss warranty out the door, it’s the fastest most powerful truck I have ever owned. I can actually say it tows our TT seamlessly like a dream. The engine brake in tow/haul mode works excellent on mountain passes.

I have added a few upgrades such as full front XPEL paint protection, (5) Fuel Beast wheels and (5) Nitto Ridge Grapplers, an ARE Z topper. It’s a complete beast as far as towing and power. Naturally the diesel cost is more up front and more in maintenance which we were aware of when buying. We won’t be cutting corners on maintenance it is what it is.
Not here to trash talk any vehicle brand as that falls into the “opinion bucket” and we all know opinions are like........;)

Life is short so enjoy what you drive and drive what you enjoy.

2021 is our year to hit the road and tour the USA

To say a new F350 has a surprisingly smooth ride is comical. You guys must live on perfectly laid black top roads. Take a drive on I10 through Louisiana. 180 miles of that segmented concrete crap will have you letting air out of your tires. You must also live on large plots of land where everything doesn't require a 3 point turn. If you haul heavy loads perfect but as a dailey drive miserable. I can't make up my mind if the happiest day of my life is when I sold a POS 90 corvette or my 2017 F250 super duty. Forget about deleting your diesel unless you are a programmer, those days are gone. I agree with gas engine, I had diesel and loved the torque just to many vulnerabilities.

Well, Just rolled 21k on the truck. Still have the smudged windshield--decided to just live with it. Truck is still running fine--knock on wood. No other recalls etc so far. There is a rattle in the dash on passenger side. It is the anti-theft device the dealer put in. I fixed it when I first purchased. My fix must have come apart. Will take a look at it again.

    So far, so good.

That is one good looking truck. The Tremor package is a home run in my book. Very off-road capable but still very focused on tow duties. Best of both worlds.
