    Hey guys!

haven’t been active since I sold my truck last year. I’m getting ready to buy another one in a couple of months and I am seriously considering a ridgeline (I know, I know).

I loved my old tundra but it lacked a lot of features and mpg was awful. I’m 26 and I’m an accountant so I don’t really need a full size truck. I mainly bought it because I liked how it looked and wanted the reliability. I’m looking to start a handy man business soon so I will definitely need a truck however I’m thinking a tundra will start biting into my profits.

Between the taco and the ridgeline I am leaning more towards the ridgeline due to the features and also the ride quality.

It checks off all the boxes except one, I don’t really like how it looks lol. So I’m here to see if anyone can talk me out of buying a ridgeline and going back to a Tundra. Thanks!! My old truck for attention. 4C00E114-0026-4130-8FE9-A1E3883C6AD3.jpg

Glad you went there before I did. I started to type, but then started to fear the ban hammer coming down and deleted.

I think at 60-65 it becomes totally acceptable to drive a ridgeline, below that I wonder a little. The 2021 is the nicest one that I’ve seen, still not quite enough truck for my liking.

Bit baffled with “I’m an accountant so I don’t really need a full size truck.” Do you do accounting 24/7? If not, maybe when you are off work, you could use a full size truck? Unless you just account.

What do you do with you truck? Look at it, drive it around town, drive on service roads, tow a trailer, hit whoops at 50mph, do fifty foot jumps?

I think the ridgeline looks like ass and I’d hate myself every day I saw it in the driveway.

*actually I’m gonna add I’d rather drive a Honda Odyssey than a ridgeline.

i work usually 70 hours a week. What I meant with that reference is that I don’t have a job the requires me to haul or carry stuff around 24/7.

Do you really need a truck?. You can buy a used suv and a trailer for hauling stuff for handy man business. Buy a passport rather than Ridgeline.

Bud, I had a 2019 Ridgeline for a year and a half. It was fine for light hauling and commuting, but couldn’t tow like I wanted it to. It drove pretty good, was reasonably comfortable and got decent mileage but that was about it.

I towed a 6x10 box trailer when we were moving last year...about 11 miles away and the trans temp would skyrocket just on that short drive. 270-280 F. Trailer packed might have weighed 3,000 pounds tops.

It is certainly not a manly vehicle, if that matters to you.

Maybe a van would be better suited for your new handy-man business. All the tools and gear you will need stay safe and dry, and you won't have the stigma of driving a Ridgeline. Food for thought.

I am the new guy..... but just didn't think someone would be so undecided between a tundra and a Ridgeline.... lol sounds like to me you need a nice SUV to get to work (better ride, Mpg, etc) and for your "handy man" job just get a small enclosed trailer for behind the SUV.

I did this with my 18 forester XT and it was the best of both worlds

I resemble that remark and I don't drive no damn Ridgeline!!!

I wouldn't tow anything near it's rated limit with Honda's reputation for lightweight transmissions.

    A bunch
If I were starting a handyman business I'd be thinking a Tundra is too small, let alone a Ridgeline. A Ridgeline is a car with a bed, start loading is up and you'll end up having problems. Unless you plan on keeping your handyman stuff to hobby level you'll end up carrying lots of heavy stuff at some point - so buy a Ridgeline and stress it with a trailer, or buy an HD truck and have all the capability you'll ever need.
