Not that. I open the bleeder so that the fluid gets purged out instead of sent back to the MC via the ABS. Old, water contaminated and dirty brake fluid. With the bleeder open, I can almost compress the cylinders by hand. Except that at least one of the cylinders is always seized on these darm remans (did the 03 upgrade) and I end up replacing the calipers. Again.

I haven't tried it on these yet. They work excellent on every other caliper I've used them on. Is there something different about these calipers I should know about?

Opposing piston design. 4 pots, no open side to put the bracket against.

Huh, I see. More Japanese engineering genius. I have no plans to remove the calipers anytime soon and appreciate the heads-up. Reckon I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. :bananadead:

opening the bleeder and using one of the old pads to compress one side of pistons with literally anything, a screwdriver, the back end of a crescent wrench, a C clamp if you like. Then repeat on the other side.

Has been my go to for years. I do like the vise plier C clamps the OP used. Don't own any though.

Thanks, I forgot about that site. Looks like none of the HD versions fit the V6 engine. Should I still go with Gates in that case or go OEM?

Also, should I be replacing the power steering belt, air conditioner belt and alternator? Im confused about all that. Which belt does serpentine mean?

Can't go wrong with OEM. I wouldn't hesitate to use the gates though. I've had good luck with them. The V8 has a single serpentine (like a snake) belt. The 3.4 V6 appears to have 2 separate belts. I would just replace them both.

Yea, had to bleed to release. So far no stick, but the driver side has a wiggle, gonna swap rotors to see if its the shaft.

No dice. Still drags. Doesnt have to do with the calipers. Maybe an adjustment to the master cylinder? Anyone have a good pic of that linkage? Cause the last time i looked, it looked tight.

ive got an inch of pedal before the tight brakes set.

That’s what I had to do when I did mine. Crack the bleeders, keep the old pads in place and a big pair of channel locks to compress the caliper.

I literally added a second spring less than a week ago. So far so good. I was really hoping to cut down on my light braking squeal, but it is still there. At least It gave me an excuse to grease the slide pins and check on my pads. It definitely changed the noise my brakes make when I step on them.

    Tl:dr
Harder braking noise is different and the placebo is absolutely worth it.

Took rear seats out, cleaned/conditioned with 2 step Lexol, detailed rest of inside. Under hood detailed, removed batt term and cleaned, checked all fluids and prepared for oil change. Not monumental stuff but given where I was 2 mo ago, I’m blesed to be able to work on the ole girl.

I don't have the truck they were on anymore so only about 6 months of feedback, but so worth it! Bottomed out much less and not at all stiff. I had a fiberglass camper on so a bit more weight than stock.

Got me about 1.5 lift (right at 23 hub to fender)

Yep. That will happen. Just ordered the tires today though so I’ll have those staring at me in a week while I wait for the wheels to be in stock again. That price is much better than the Deavers at $1000

Yeah. Not seeing it with the beav. Forget which one I called (or the other one everyone reccos here) but they were wanting me to design and measure and build the thing for them before ordering for $1400!

absolutely gorgeous. reminds me of my 06 limited with every option when it was new. i sold it in 2011 and have been regretting it ever since. have blown an insane amount of money trying to replicate it, but looking at yours- it's just perfect, from the factory.

Yay... my serpentine maintenance kit arrived today from rockauto. Came with belt, idler, and tensioner assembly for around $100. Just need to find a day to slap it all in.
