Am I weird for liking simple wheels?

I see some wild ass wheels out here, like tons of zigs and zags, bolt heads that dont seem to do anything, shapes and shiny bits, etc. I'm not bagging on anyone for being into that, hell it can look really good on the right vehicle and for sure wheels are a personal choice.

Anyone want to suggest a black, plain Jane, 18" wheel that fits our trucks and doesn't run me $250? I'm overwhelmed when I try the wheel stores. I'm looking to do a 3" down the road, but for now it'll sit stock.

 

What are your stockers ? Steel or alum ? Powder coat yours ?

 

The SR5 aluminums, but powder coat will cost me as much as a new set around here. I will be "Dipping" them until I find that wheel that calls to me though.

 

San Jose cant be much different than San Diego. Should be able to get them powder coated for $100 a wheel max. Here's mine in a darker gray.....

 

I'm assuming vin will make these in an 18 eventually and they are my favorite plain Jane wheel.

 

Yeah, same here. I think many members have some awesome wheels on their trucks but I love my stock Limited wheels. Wouldnt mind trading for a pair of Platinum wheels though

 

FN BFD's match your desire for a simple wheel, but run $25/wheel over what your price range is.

 

Nice and easy. Not a lot of nooks and cranies to clean.

Forum vendor SCS....though I think they are about 250 a pop - but they hit every aspect you're looking for, which is pretty much what I was looking for.

Lol if you wanted to take a road trip to down Los Angeles for some reason yea I have TRD wheels powder coated black with BFG 275/70s with less than 10k miles on them. Listing in market place.

 

Ya, I posted there already. When funds are released by the wife, I'll may make the 8 hour drive for them.

Im pulling the trigger on some black method standards. The set will cost me about 880 bucks, so that's a little more than you want to spend (at 250 a wheel)

I want something that isn't a spoked wheel. That's the style today, I know. I'm old- I liked 10 hole "Bud" style wheels or aluminum slotted wheels from days gone by. I can't find anything that fits that isn't a spoke style wheel.

 

Saw the Mickey Thompson's during my search... Looks like a 17 max size though.

No Alan you're not weird, you have taste. I too like simple designs. I too am older(never old!). If I had a new Tundra here's the rim I would be running. A real timeless classic.

I'm in your boat. I can't believe how many wheels have fake bead locks on them.

Level 8 makes some clean and simple classic looking wheels. I had the Level 8 Tracker wheels on previous 2002 tundra. And I'm thinking about putting them on my 2017 now. Only drawback is those wheels come with a 12+ offset and I'm thinking I really want to stay in the 18 to 25 range. Hmm.
