My wife is looking at a female English mastiff puppy, so I was wonder what the tundra community has to say about the breed.

We have a male Rottweiler at home, he’s mostly my dog and is fixed and is playful with other dogs.

So do any tundra people have English mastiffs?

That’s what we are looking for. Something that gets along with my Rottweiler and likes to hang around a chill with family.

They are big, strong dogs, for sure. A friend of mine had one growing up. The dog would get excited when the family came home and would knock holes in drywall walls wagging its tail.

Not sure about English but my co-worker has an Italian 80lb 4 month old puppy that already tore up his couch and back yard.

My parents neighbor had one. Sweetest big dog I’ve ever met. Only turned once on another dog in all the years my family knew him. According to the story, my dad was walking him and next thing you know dad’s being dragged towards the other dog. Said it took everything he had to get him off the other dog. After that back to being a sweet old pup

Big sweet heart. Our big girl is a Daniff.
    English Mastiff/ Dane. 175lbs.
I go through 56lbs of kibble a month between these two.

Mastiffs are an incredible breed ... I had a bullmastiff and he was so gentle and wonderful with the kids. Never once showed a temper or lashed out at anyone

Mastiffs are awesome. Have 2 Cane Corsos and 1 Neopolitan. My Neo is 2 and 175 lbs. Sweet as can be, unless you're trying to get in my house at 2am like the other night. Dude saw Brunos face through the window and booked it ( probably shit his pants too...lol)

Definately a dog for the country. Where I live I would have to pick up their turds. No thanks:poking:

We have a Daniff too. She's only weighing in at about 135 but she's TALL. Awesome dog. We're outside of town and little dogs/cats are on the menu for the local mountain lions and coyotes. Zoey, not so much....haha. Zoey has a couple neighbors that walk our road. She'll accompany them on their walk, see them safely to their door and come back home. Some folks on the road (there are only 16 houses) stop on their way by and she walks up to their car window to greet them. Mind you she's eye to eye with the person sitting in the car. They're amazingly gentle creatures considering their size and power. As mentioned, that tail is no joke, almost had to start wearing a cup full time.

We have an acre about 15 mins outside of town, so I like having big dogs around. Keeps the critters away and gives me some comfort when I’m away on work and the wife and kids are home.
