I have a suction gun but the reservoir is already empty from swapping the pump. Just need to cycle the fluid at this point.

This worked well for me too. Didn't make a mess and I bled it afterward. Should be good to go. I'll know later this week when I get the rear axle back in.

The inner dia for the tubing (and coupler size) is 3/8" for anyone stumbling across this in the future.

    One more pic...

This is how the tubing is hooked up. The nearest one in the pic goes from the reservoir to anywhere above the reservoir and left open, I attached it to the open hood. The other comes from the rack and is the pressure line. That one feeds into an old antifeeze container for later disposal.

Was brown when I started. Turned perfect red after about a quart. I ran about two quarts through it.

Nice. I think just the Rez holds about 1/2 Quart.

Am I imagining things or can you actually clean the reservoir so it isn’t yellow tinted or was yours whitish plastic originally?

Good observation, not imagining things... I replaced the reservoir with a new one several months ago. :hattip:

Back to this for a sec...
I've got an OE hose that's failing from age. I've already trimmed it back twice and it continues to split. Added screw-type hose clamps instead of the OE pinch clamp and it slowed down the bleeding, but not stopped it.
It's only about a ft or so long and the other end clamps to the steel tubing coming from the rack. The OE rubber has a proprietary bend.
Searching rockauto and elsewhere... they only offerings for the part I see is the whole line assembly, steel lines and all for around $100. I don't want all that, just the short section of hose for a quick fix.
    Questions:
Can I just use an over-the-counter section of 3/8" ID trans line as a replacement? Without proprietary bend of course. Maybe cut it a little long so it doesn't implode or kink?
Is there any source to buy just that small section of hose with the molded bend? I've already found and replaced the other line that comes from the res and goes to the pump, that was easy.

According to what I've found and something you may already know, that hose appears to be TOYOTA 44348-0C010 ! That said, it is listed as good for 2000-2006 and matches best I can tell the form of my 2004 DC. While there are 2 90 deg bends, I'd be inclined to buy the length you mentioned over-the-counter and see how it goes. Personally I would be buying OEM but that's just me !

Side not....been out of the loop for a number of months due to C19 and it really sucks to find out CoolSpring online store that @Roman worked hard in keeping us going has found the greedy CEO syndrome...cigar smokin Fsuckers

Yep, but you'll need to stretch it out a bit to get it on....ideally you want 10mm ID, but I can't find where to buy it. Some butthole from a pneumatic shop sold me 10mm, but it was really 3/8".

That bend is key and the Toy hoses are High Dolla! for these two going into the rez. Looks like about $70 for just one hose.

I think I'll try the 3/8" ID trans line. I'll heat it up a little with a blow drier or heat gun before slipping it on. I also considered my 3/8" clear vinyl tubing which fits and seals well but it would probably deteriorate due to the ATF.

Nope. That's the hose on the left in my pic. I've already purchased that and installed it, perfect fit. I'm looking for the other hose on the right.

Good thread here. That fitting that connects the return line to the pump is “special”. Or maybe the designer of the pump is “special”. Either way, at my expense, I discovered that you must be very specific as to even the sub-model (ie: 04 SR5 4/dr 2wd 8cyl 4.7L) because there are at least two different sized fittings - the end with the o-ring that bolts to the pump. Oddly enough, the SR5 compatible pump is not easily available for pick up at any local parts store.

I appreciate the expertise and feedback from y’all and similarly appreciate others who ask the questions I seem to need to know, too. Glad I’m not the only feller encountering these things.

On my 2000 AC I searched for that hose unsuccessfully. Dealer parts manager searched for about 30 minutes and came to conclusion need to buy hose as complete part with hard line for something like $450.00. Ended up buy aftermarket Sunsong part from Rock Auto and pulling rubber hose off and sacrificing the new hard line to the recycle bin. Fit perfectly

I can't figure out why my steering wheel is so loose, Toyota replaced the rack and pinion and I thought the bushings should be changed to poly u since the oems are soft, I have a 01 V8 sitting on 275 55 20s w bilstein 5100s, any help is appreciated, thanks.

By loose, do you mean 'light' or 'touchy' with very little effort needed to change lanes when driving?

If yes, you may need more caster. 2.5-3.0° and/or you could have toe out (bad for inner tire wear).

Yes light and touchy with almost no resistance slowly returning to center, I need to check last alignment specs toyota gave me, it also feels like it sags, thinking of adding a leaf, also wondering about a drop kit since the level is 2.5 in the front.

Yeah, I like how these trucks handle between 2.6-2.8 caster and .10-.20 total toe in.

I have access to an alignment rack, so I've tried several setups.

Numbers look ok. Maybe try and get to +3.0 caster if you have any adjustment left to do so and keep camber between 0.0 to -0.3.

Otherwise it's probably the fact you went from a lot of toe in (high tire wear) to correct toe, which may be giving you the light feeling.
