    Hi,

Been wanting a tundra for a while and was consigning myself to wait until the 2022s were out but.... a 2010 4x4 4.6L tundra, regular cab, short box just came up for sale in my area 240,000km, $10,000 Canadian.

Well I say “just” but only just noticed the add and it’s been up for 3 weeks, there’s only two photos of it in the add, asked the guy for more, never had a truck but work construction, I’ve always loved the idea of an RCSB for the shorter wheel base. I’m thinking about getting it kinda for fun but also work, would be nice to have a vehicle I could haul a welding machine in, it also wouldnt be the main family vehicle so don’t care a lot about the single cab.

I tried looking up what the going rate for one of these is but didn’t come up with much, is there anything to be aware of for that model year? I’m not crazy about the mileage but since it’s a Toyota I’m assuming you take care of it and it will be bullet proof.

    Any thoughts?

Price seems about average to me.

The regular cabs have different doors and cabs from the doublecab/crewmax. Be mindful of damage to the doors/glass/door panels because they will be harder to find replacement parts.

Other than that, it's the same as other tundras. Obviously check for rust. Check to make sure all the warning lights work when you turn the key.

Everything else I would look for has nothing to do with it being a tundra. Who owns it? High schooler vs. old man. Check body line gaps. Differences in paint colors between body panels. Aftermarket parts. Condition of tires and do they all match. Condition of the inside of the bed and tailgate. Factory or aftermarket exhaust. Maintenance records. Amount of mud underneath. Condition and cleanliness of the interior. All will tell you about it's previous life.

I'd go look at it. I could be biased though. I own two lol. :monocle:

If the frame is not eaten up by rust, and the the rest of the truck suits you - BUY IT!

I would consider it myself if it were local.

    Thanks,

ya I’m going to go look at it, I think there’s some kind of damage this was text in add:

“2010 Toyota Tundra 4.6L 4x4 regular cab, short box. MVI til may. Approx. 230 000km. Needs passenger window, and o2 censor”

I’ve got no idea what “MVI till May” means?

two pictures on the outside show rust on tailgate and rear bumper, still I’m betting I find new ones at a salvage yard.

    I’ll attach pics from add.

    wow potato camera engaged lmao

I'd guess MVI is vehicle inspection.

Looks like a base model. Black bumpers and grille. Probably vinyl floors, column shift, bench seat, and crank windows. Also looks like it was used as a truck, but probably not hotrodded by a 16 year old. $10k canuck bucks is about right. Clean SR5s with lower mileage are going for $15-25k USD.

If the window glass is broken that would suck. Might be hard to source in canada. Not sure about the window regulators.

Check for rusty brake lines at the wheel wells. Pull up bedliner if it has one and check for bed rust. Check underneath the front. Lots of clamps and cheesy metal clips that will be rusting away.

Thanks, ya I’m also a bit nervous about the “just needs an 02 sensor”, I’m guessing that’s from a computer code that could turn into a parade of issues. I hadn’t thought about the possibility of a bench seat, that would suck, if I bought this thing though I’td turn into a project so I’m guessing I could swap out the bench for more modern seats?

"Bench seat" is really bucket seats with a jump seat instead of the center console.

I'd bring a obd2 code reader to check the codes. Somehow it's always an "o2 sensor" lol. Could need new cats on it.

Thanks for all the advice and welcome, guy on Kijiji never answered me so guess he either already sold it and abandoned the add or something so all a mute point I guess, maybe the 2022 will come with an RCSB option, doubt it but who knows.
