    Hello Tundra Community,

I purchased my first Toyota, 2005 Double Cab RWD SR5, a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. Let's say that I am in my mid-life years and the truck reminds me of those first few years of having a driver's license. I don't know who owned my truck for the first 16 years, but I wish I could thank him for taking such great care of it during its 131,000 miles. Who knows, this may be my last vehicle with all that I have heard about the reliability of the 4.7 liter.

Quick question: the tailgate latch has a key which I can turn freely left and right with the ignition key. I assume that the latch should lock when I turn the key to the left, but nothing happens. Is there something I am overlooking?

    Thank you.

Open the tailgate access panel, you might have a broken clip, I think it’s yellow.

As @jerryallday said, take a closer look with access panel removed....should be somewhat evident what is the issue. While in there, lubricate the ole girl, she'll thank you come winter. The below is what is normal !
