Dudes sister should not be driving, or stop drinking first. That’s nice miles on the truck, yet maintenance of vehicle?!?!?

That's a new 2wd high price as far as I've seen, but I suppose I really only scope out the 4wd trucks

Not mine, killing me not to buy tho. Posted in the Gen1 forum already.

    https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=605098535

$9.5k SR5 access cab, salsa red. All-south AL/GA its whole life. Lots of service records. w/212k miles (commuter), 4.7, 2WD. Looks great, owner fixed clearcoat fail on it. ARE cap, paint-matched. Recent TB/WP change. Hate the wheels but reckon you could get $600-800 on easy sale, $400-500 on the cap easy sale, recouping $1k. Maybe another $200 on whatever that chrome front bumper thingy is.

I looked at the AutoCheck report, it's everything someone would want to see. I didn't go see the truck in person, so haven't checked the frame, but based on registration history, it's clearly been in central/north AL and GA its whole life.

If anyone buys it, tag me.

Possibly. I can only speak for myself here:

If it wasn't a rust-belt truck, looked like the owner actually took care of it, it had undeniably clear and thorough service records, front susp had a somewhat recent rebuild, no body rust or wrecks, no clearcoat peel, and the big ticket items were handled within recent history (TB,WP,Alt,etc.)

I realize that's asking a lot, but if someone is expecting me to drop $8k on a truck with a drivetrain 60-80% at typical life, I want to be sure the rest is worth spending the time or money putting a new engine in.

The 212K mile truck above, given it's commuter/hwy miles, has a lot of extras I wouldn't want immediately and could sell, I think it's a pretty fair buy. It's got at least another 100-200k miles in it, and that's about 2x-4x what I'd be putting on it.

I've seen some killer high-mile garage-kept vehicles over the year that look absolutely mint and were meticulously kept. Mileage can be misleading when you have some 100k mile cars looking twice as bad as 200k mile cars. Owner care is a huge factor. Some folks treat their stuff like shit.

Fantastic thread, helping me walk through my 'to sell or not to sell' dilemma. I have an '03 Stepside Limited, V8, Phantom gray/gray leather (not vinyl) 156k carefully maintained miles, zero paintwork, honestly zero rust. T belt just done for the second time in my 16 year ownership.

Can you guys hit me with a 'range' of what you feel this might bring in today's rather wacky market? For the first time in forever, I'm considering selling for something new but nostalgia and the uniqueness of the Gen 1 stepside is making me pause. Any help appreciated. (If I've posted in the wrong thread, please forgive my newbie mistake and I'll post properly.)

Didn't end up buying it. The prices are all over the place. I'm now looking at a 2006 double cab with 217k mi for $16,000. Up to date on the 100k maintenance. Upgraded suspension, lower ball joints, premium wheels and it's 4x4. Plenty of records. Still seems high to me.

Yup, as in it's priced too high? Crazy times for sure. But I may pay the piper. Haven't decided yet.
