Hello tundra world. New member to this forum.

I've done some extensive research on this and I haven't found any fixes for this issue on the toyota navi screen. This was on a E7006 unit but could apply to any of the ones that have screen come out.
My issue was unlike all the others I've seen online where the boards get messed up or CD reader goes out.

ISSUE: Screen was black but would flicker when opening the screen or tilting it. I immediately knew i had some kind of connection issue. I looked right under the screen when it was in the fully open position and saw that the ribbon cable was tore on 10 of the tiny lines right on a hard bend. I couldn't find any info or replacement parts for the unit..so i decided to repair it!

We took it apart and as we were micro soldering the connections back together as you can see in the photo through microscope, i found the cable on ebay, but in china... i bought 2 for good measure. The hardest part was scrapping the insulation off to expose the copper wires inside to get a solid connection. It's only possible to do this through a microscope as those little cables are super difficult to see with your naked eye. Well, after we got the soldering done, we tested the connections with multimeter and made sure there was no crossing from lines near each other. The only way to do that was to use aligator clips and needles to touch the tiny little pins.
I'll get photos of the tools we used if anyone is interested.

Anyway, I hope this helps someone out who like myself didn't want to spend 3-400 on a new head unit. I just went the cheaper route and thankfully my brother has the micro soldering tool and microscope. But, even if you don't have the ability to repair, this cable is available on ebay. but in china. So, you'll be waiting like a month for it. The cable was $9.. but after i bought it they jumped to 18 a piece. Still worth it.

    Sorry photos arent in order
