Hi All...I just bought a 2000 SR5 AC. While shopping around, I noticed that some trucks have no flares, some have body colored, and some like mine have black flares. Is there any method to the madness? Mine look factory but not really sure given all the different ones I've seen. There is rust just starting to bubble up over one of the rear flares and wondering how hard it would be to remove the flare to address it? Thanks.

Just depends, like the oem flares on my truck we’re screwed in the fender well, 3m taped/some kinda gasket, and has holes punched in the fender with clips

more than likely yours are probably 3m taped and screws in the fender well. Kinda of a crap shoot till you pull one. Are they one piece or 2 piece?

No flares = non TRD models. Black flares = TRD models. Body colored flares = Limited models.

There are a few companies making aftermarket flares as well. OEM flares are worth their weight in gold, like $400+ for a 4pc set.

Another difference is that some have a 2 piece front flare. My XSP has one piece.

Thanks! That clears things up. I've got the black OEM flares for sure.
