Thank you for this. One of mine will only unlock even with a new battery so I am going to try reprogramming it.

Does anyone know of any hardened cases for these remotes? The plastic key ring hoops on both my originals broke and I don't want that to happen again. I'm thinking I might need to go this sort of route.

Phantom Grey Pearl is the best color if y'all didn't know, it's like camouflage in traffic and police don't see you. Oh and the AJT fob revives the old crusty fob

If they didn't make one of these for the Tundra, I'd be all over the AJT...I'll probably get an AJT for my 4Runner, because I can't find an all-in-one key/fob that's not flip out for it...I"m not crazy about those.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here. I have one of those HYQ12BBX fobs. I went to a locksmith to buy a replacement fob but he couldn't get the truck into fob programming mode. He said there may be a fuse that is out. Is that possible? I notice that when I get into the truck and turn the ignition on the door locks lock then unlock. When I get in using the key with the driver's side door it will unlock only the driver's side door, but it will lock all 4 doors. On the passenger side it will lock and unlock all 4 doors.

Did you read this post and try it yourself? It's tricky, but has ultimately worked for me every time.

I'll take a look at this more closely. I do believe this is the same as some instructions the locksmith handed me regarding programming of the fob (I remember he had the door open and all the switching on and off and the pushing of buttons). He did that a couple of times and concluded the system would not get into programming mode. That's when he made the comment about a possible blown fuse. I have a copy of the instructions and also gave it a try and it didn't work.

@blur000 I have the exact same setup as you - My Tundra doesn't have the security LED & glass sensor, didn't lock/unlock when turning the truck on/off, RS3000 (08190-00921), and I have the same FCC ID BAB 237000-129 on my ECU box. I did the bypass and now the doors auto lock/unlock, but I still can't get the remote to program when I have the key to "ON" & I press the green button on the ECU for exactly 3 seconds (I literally used my phone's timer to make sure it was exact). I have remotes for the FCC ID BAB237131-022, & nothing's working. Methinks I have the wrong remote, but it looks like both FCC's run at 303.875MHz. What FCC ID remote did you use? Would you happen to have a link? Thanks!
Edit: Looks like you had a link & I just missed it, sorry. Looks like it's the FCC BAB237131-022. I for the life of me can't figure out why this isn't working for me. I've spent waaaay too many hours on this already. Any suggestions would be welcome!!

Bumping this again as the fob I bought above: didnt work. I tried to find the fob that was suggested on pager one on Amazon but it is no longer in stock. Can anyone guide me to the correct fob that ends in 131-022?

Ok. I think it matters if it's dealer or port installed. Does your truck have the security light near your left knee, on the dash? Mine does not and that changed the game for me a bit. Once you answer that, I'll see if I can help.

    This post helped me- https://www.tundras.com/threads/key-fob-replacement-2002-tundra.55779/#post-1457777

My truck had the gray module picture above that I had to access.

Thanks! I do have the security light but I have never seen it go on. I had accessed the gray module to push the green button to reprogram. I believe that the fob I bought was not correct though as I did get the chirps from the alarm to set the new fob but it never worked after many attempts. The fob I bought and returned from Amazon (the product is no longer available) had this descriptor:
QualityKeylessPlus Replacement Keyless Entry Remote Fob Compatible for Toyota Models FCC BAB237131-022 Part Number 08191-00870 (1)

Do you know if it's dealer or port installed? Here is the Fob I ordered https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Bab237...Keyless-Entry-Remote-Car-Key-Fob/362166067422 I had the same numbers as you on the back of my fob.

@speedtre , any other suggestions for him? Almost sounds like the fob he ordered was D.O.A.

For the driver's door, try turning the key a second time to unlock all doors: insert key, turn once, drivers door unlocks, turn a second time and all doors unlock. It's a security feature if the bad guy is at the passenger door waiting to get in.

Edit: I just tested this on my '03
    Driver's door
    - Key in driver's door, rotate key clockwise, unlock driver's door
    - Rotate clockwise a second time, unlock all doors
    - Rotate CCW, lock all doors
    Passenger door
    - Rotate key CCW once to unlock all doors
    - Rotate key CW to lock all doors

On my truck the key needs to be turned in opposite directions on the driver and passenger sides for the same function, i.e. the lock cores may be the same Part# and are swappable from side-to-side.

I've been reading in case I thought I could help, but that seems about right to me. Sometimes these things just won't program and it requires a dealer trip...but I think I'd try one more fob just in case...

I ended up taking my 2002 AC to a large local dealer, where I special ordered an OEM key fob and had their service department program it. They could not make it work and refunded me for the fob. I'm just careful with the one that came with the truck (I did put the guts into a new case) and will fall back on the keys if I gotta, just as I do with the Jeep. With that in mind, I had the dealer make me a pair of keys from the VIN. Had to show a copy of my title, my insurance card and my ID.

I may ask my shop to disable the entry system anyway. The single button remote is goofy and, now and then, I go to the truck, press the button and get a single beep, which means it had been unlocked. Who knows what wireless signals this thing may be listening to.

Hmmm. I will have to consider whether I want to give this ebay Fob a shot. The specs on that particular Fob state that it does not work with my 2002 tundra.

    Thanks for the help.

Tried this on the driver's door and it did not work...

On the passenger side one twist opens all doors.

Dang, your passenger side works according to the 2003 manual but it also says two twists in the driver's side should do it. This doesn't seem like a feature they'd delete in later years.

Being obsessive, I looked up the manual for the '05 and it looks like it is supposed to function the same way.

    Hey there,
I haven't been checking back here.

I purchased my remotes on Ebay in a 2 pack. On my initial go, I only got 1 to program, the other one wouldn't (bad remote). I contacted the seller and they sent me a new one right away and that one programed. Could be a bad remote?

Honestly, where i was screwing up was pressing the green button for too long. Try longer and shorter times and see if you get anything.

Finally, i haven't heard of the RS3000 breaking much, but i do have an extra one if you want to go that route.

    Good luck!

Starting off on the journey to get new fobs going. Truck is at the dealer right now so I can't check it but I do see this on toyota.com/owners:

    upload_2021-7-28_6-26-54.jpg

Since I don't have a known good remote I figure next step is locating the ECU to get the FCC ID. I never liked those grey oval-ish fobs much so hoping I can get the more rectangular black ones working, especially since that means an AJT case would work.

I suppose for now I have to wait for the dealer to finish their side before I continue the hunt. I do have all the owners manuals in the glove box so since this looks like a factory installed option I might try actually reading one of those.
