    Hello All,
Just wrecked my 2018 TRD Off-Road Double cab. Really upset as I loved my truck!!
Looking to get another but torn between the TRD Sport or Off Road.
To be 100% honest I'm not very mechanically savvy so please help me out in laymen's terms.
    Any advice would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance!!

I picked the TRD Sport because:
    1. Main reason is it came with the color matched grill, mirrors and bumpers. Chrome delete would have been my first mod if I had a Off-Road, so that checked that box.
    2. Sport comes with the TRD sway bars front and back - with the Off-Road I would have had to add the one in the back.

The Off-Road benefits would (could) have been:
    1. 18" tires give a softer ride than the 20" of the Sport because of higher side walls to absorb shocks
    2. Chrome bumpers and grill if you prefer those
    3. slightly better skid plates, if that matters to you.
    4. No fake hood scoop

That's about the main differences that I can think of.

You know what the Offroad has. The Sport has front and rear sway bars, 20"wheels, color matched bumpers, mirrors, etc., hood scoop, premium audio. And maybe some other stuff not really sure. I'm on my 2nd OR, 21 Limited CM, 1st was a 17 SR5 CM. I was really looking for a Sport this time because I'm not a big fan of chrome but it just didnt work out that way. The Sport is also limited on available colors.

    Welcome from NY.

Question is do you like chrome or do you want paint matching mirrors, bumpers and grille surround?
If you want matched parts or plan on getting rid of the chrome get the Sport. It will be cheaper in the long run.

The color matched bumpers and such are very nice and at times I wish my truck had those items.

But after test driving both on rough roads the clear winner IMHO goes the the Offroad. It sucks up the potholes and craters better or in other words softer/more comfortable. The Sport handles better in turns and such but I rarely drive over 70 with my Tundra so it’s a moot point for me. And I was really was very jaded by my 2nd gen Tacoma Sport. I driven commercial trucks that had softer suspension...on the highway and mountain road it was great. When when the roads got rough the suspension became wagon like...

I was going to say... the biggest difference makers in these lists is the suspension and skid plate vs. sway bars... not the plastic body bits.

I have a 2nd gen Tacoma Sport and drive both trucks. While the Tacoma is a fun little truck, the ride is terrible when the roads are rough. The Tundra Sport is a much more comfortable ride and sees more miles because of it.

The handling on the Tundra Sport is great for a big truck. I prefer that over the comfort. And no chrome and a fake scoop that I like.

The Sport I drove was much better on the street for the obvious reasons (rear sway bar, street oriented tires). It also comes equipped with some of the poorest rated tires there are (Dunlop SP Sport 5000M). I'm guessing the TRD would prolly do better off road, and comes with a much better Michelin LTX AT2. Unless you want to replace tires in the 1st 15-20k miles, the off-road would save you a little coin.

I wasn’t comparing the Tundra Sport to the Tacoma Sport. The Tundra Sport I test drove was nicer than the Tacoma. Every owners wants are different, cause in my case I preferred the supple. I drive in NYC a decent amount and stiff suspensions make for an uncomfortable ride. Truthfully I am very apprehensive about even adding a rear sway bar.

In regards to the chrome I will agree to disagree...depending on the color a lot of modern trucks are starting to look like iKEA furniture to me.

What he said. Sway bar can be purchased for about $500 I think and installed yourself.

I have a 18 TRD Offroad DC. If I had to do it all over again, I would have just gotten a sport. I ended up switching all the chrome out, getting front and rear trd sway bars, and changing the wheels and shocks anyways. Would have been easier to just get the color match parts from the beginning and the hood scoop.

I had a TRD Off-Road, and now have a TRD Sport. Most of what others have said regarding the differences between the are true, however, there still can be variances.

For example, mine did not come with premium audio (luckily), but I replaced at all anyway. Mine also came with Michelin tires and not Dunlop.

I kept the TRD 18” off road wheels
Thought the sport wheels were the ugliest wheels I’ve ever seen.
