Why buy a Tundra when a Tacoma can get the job done 90 percent of the time?
For me, living in CO almost of my life I have found it’s better to have it then wish you you did.
The single stage is a great option 70 percent of the time in Castle Rock. The other 30 you may as well leave it in the garage.

Another one of those they don’t make em like they used to
I’ve owned a couple of older single stage blowers that worked really good but when they stopped making them with 2 cycle engines I haven’t seen on that could handle the usually wet heavy snow around here

I'm not as sore as I thought I would be this morning but have to admit the idea of having a snow blower is very appealing to me now. I wouldn't want to shovel your sidewalk down to the corner. That's a lot of sidewalk come to think of it......

I bought an old ass Ariens off CL this fall for 175$. Thing runs awesome but definitely has its limits in wet heavy snow, or after the damn plow comes through sometimes. But I love it for what I paid for it, and it is my first snowblower so I’m pretty proud to own it. I also have a single stage Craftsmen I was gifted that is pretty slick in the lighter fluffy snow. If the snow is right in can go through quite a bit too.

if I were to be looking at buying new I would look at either ariens or Toro myself. My dad has a newer toro and it’s a nice machine.

I bought a new Ariens platinum 30, three years ago and have had zero issues with it ans it always starts right up. Hughly recommend. Has a powerful engine and will move foot plus of snow no problem. No issue getting the plow pile at end of driveway either

just an FYI if the snow is wet and heavy spray some Pam cooking spray in the shoot ans u will never have a jam again!

I have no space for another vehicle and I end up doing the sidewalks for my half of the block most of the time. The plow trucks blast past the alley and sometimes make a mountain big enough the Tundra has a hard time getting through. Out comes the Honda and it’s gone. I’m happy, neighbors are happy and I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth out of the machine.

I was thinking about that after my post. Not everyone has room for a rusty old POS plow vehicle, nor wants to maintain it.

Putting the snow exactly where you want it has huge benefits as well.

FWIW, I've had great luck with a 24" 2 stage craftsman. it achieved what a 2305 JD with a 47" thrower attachment couldn't - plow a 1000' driveway of 18" snow (one time only, and about 5 hours - it SUCKED). JD2305 was rock solid, the thrower however was not. I have the driveway plowed now and got rid of the JD (only use was for snow removal) after spending $1500 in repairs and not a single completed session. So the craftsman is relegated to tidying up from the plow truck. But all ive done to it is change oil and gas. New pull start rope assembly too. Electric start, plastic chute and whole list of other "no no's" mentioned above. $300 and has been a tank. Worked without incident at our old house (80' x 2 car wide driveway)

Ariens or Honda is where its at if you are willing to spend $1k+.
We got a deal on a black friday Craftsman 24" 2 stage snowblower back in 2018 for like $380 from Lowes that we couldn't turn down. This is its 4th season.
Had to replace the carb after 2 years but got one for $20 on Amazon and swapped in 20 minutes. Runs great otherwise and does a nice job for the snow we get here in MA. Driveway is about 80' x 2 cars wide.
Run canned gas through it now at the end of winter for storage.

Definitely not the same level of snow that others on this thread get!

Just got my first, and probably last, snow blower. Went with the Ariens Deluxe 28. So far so good. We get lots of snow with Lake Effect living right on Erie. A west wind will bury us a la Buffalo style. Couldn't shovel anymore, should have had this many years ago......

I used to do small engine repair. IMO the best 2 snow blowers are Simplicity Signature Series and Hondas.
If you want something shitty, buy one from any big box store. In general companies that sell models both at power equipment dealers and big box stores have a lower quality version at the BB stores for people shopping based on price alone. I know people that buy cheap power equipment and replace it every 6 years. You can spend twice the money and get something that lasts 4 times as long. There is no economy in buying cheap stuff.

Most of my neighbors run Ariens and really like them. I'm in a situation with a lot of driveway, and not a lot of patience, so I went a little bigger.
