I use Waze when traveling and just started plugging my Samsung S9 into the USB port . After my usual 3.5 hour trip to upstate NY, the phone battery is at 17% after starting at 95% +. It will charge the phone (powered off) to 37% or so after 1.5 hours? Is this typical?

No, not at all. Mine would be at 100% after that amount of time, even using a navigation app the whole time.

Easily changed, or a lot of disassembly?

    10 minutes tops.

Pull the dash peice out, unplug, file the hole to make it fit better, plug into original harness and tape up then replace.

Why not just get one of the 12v plug ins that has the dual usb on the back of it??

But if you do want to swap it out, the hardest part is getting the damn stock one out of there. I just installed a HDMI port in there for my head unit and getting the stock one out without breaking it was a B.

Looks like that Amazon replacement goes where the cig lighter is now? I want to keep that, will the afore mentioned unit from amazon go where the usb ports are now?

    Not sure at this point.
That's weird that when your phone is being plugged in, that you went from 95% > 17%. If you're using AndroidAuto, shouldn't it be charging your phone while you use Waze via the infotainment?

Fluid Film. ESP under seat storage. LED interior lights and cargo lights swapped. Rear USB charger port swapped for 12v port. Remote start. Leather wrapped steering wheel kit. TRD shift knob. Kenwood dmx1037s. Hertz K170 door speakers/ tweeters, Infinity Reference 7005A 5 channel amp, 2 JBL WS1000 10 inch subs. DDI Seat Jackers. RCI engine Skid and Vahalla's Shields (front and rear) 1/4 aluminum. Stillen intake. LED Pro Headlights with iHacker harness. Cartrimhome auto up and down window switches. Coupe's aluminum battery tie down. Color matched mirror caps. Color matched door handles. Chalk bag cup holder. NFab podium step bars, herculined. Powerstop z36 drilled slotted brake discs w/ceramic pads.

Would this work swapping out the one on the rear of the center console for the backseat? No clearance issues? I will occasionally have people back there for a 4ish hour drive and they usually only bring cords with them.

Not plug and play. You have to solder the pigtail onto the OEM wiring.

You'd have to verify clearance as far as depth. You'll have to enlarge the hole a little bit a cut/ solder in the wires from the new plug.

    Why use both?
Waze is by far better than a basic garmin

Why not use an ANKER fast charger at the 12v outlet.
Since it has 2 USB ports, just get a USB connector for your GPS.

I installed a 2 port fast charger in my 4runner

1: on/off switch for the USB ports. They are connected (and fused, of course) directly to the battery. I've read that USB ports power drain even when off.
    2: USB ports (12v 3a)

Both are hooked into the dash lights and light up when on. I have a deep cycle battery and use these ports a lot when camping.

Forgive the hanging wires and ARB switch, it's just the picture I had available to show the USB stuff.
