I agree that Subaru is reliable but Key words are, "Most Likely"

Too bad it’s leaving, but that iForce 5.7 is on that short list 3 different times and holds the 1st and 2nd spot

The cars before them were, respectively going back in time:

    • a 200-something CRV - had probably 120-ishK on it when my wife lost traction on Rt 17 in a bad snowstorm and totaled it. (it bounced ever-so-gently off the solidified snowbanks at under 30MPH... and the motor shifted off its mounts. totaled. Didn't really care as it was a replacement for:
    • A 2002 Subaru LLBean wagon. Bought new. Totaled at 164K miles after I was broadsided by a Toyota Celica? Corolla? I forget - which was also totaled.
    • Previous to that, 1993 Mercury Sable wagon. Bought it a year old with 30K and junked it at 170K with the rear brakes set to cost me >$1K for repairs, the transmission leaking, the windshield wiper motor wearing out... you get the idea. Too much to repair.
    • 1988 Ford Taurus. Bought with 1200 miles on it; demo car. Totaled at 132K miles after a building hit it.
I tend to keep my vehicles... But so far, the Subarus have been the mileage champs.

    Great job!
But apparently the majority don't take care of vehicles like you do.

I feel like 200K is an outdated goal. I think most modern vehicles can achieve that if they are properly serviced. I actually have a hard time believing that only 3-5% of the Toyotas on that list will hit 200K. Hell, my brother's 2000 F-150 had over 300K when he finally got rid of it. Original transmission too.

Yes I understand that. But the wording in your first post would imply that 95% of them wouldn't make it to at least 200,000 miles.

Wondered if anyone would catch that.

It was in for a brake job and a new water pump. The stealership had left it in the shop overnight after it was done as we were expecting a big snowstorm; they figured that way I didn't have to clear it off when I picked it up on the morning.

The roof of the repair shop collapsed under the weight of a foot of heavy wet snow. My poor Taurus was on the front page of the Worcester Telegram with all the debris on top of it.

Funny thing... they told me that when they got everything off it, it fired right up and they DROVE it out into the yard. It was totaled, of course. An ignominious end for a great car.
